We in South Florida are glad it's going anywhere but here. Still, wherever it hits it's not going to be nice. Batten down the hatches and take all of the recommended precautions.

Guess its going to be a "fun" drive to Florida Thursday night. We are leaving at about 1030 pm Thursday. I dont really see it as being a problem, just windy and wet. If need be we can always go farther inland too

You are not the only one who lives in florida right now.
Hurricane Isabel may be going somewhere else, but don't expect its effects to miss us. Our weather is still going to be hell. I can imagine the amount of flooding we're gonna have here in Kendall.
However, I wouldn't trust the forecast if I were you.
When Hurricane Andrew came out of the Atlantic, many thought it was not gonna hit the United States. As a result, many people were not prepared. Then Andrew tricked us and brought hell to Miami.
Fact:
If a major hurricane causes serious damage to any community, its name will be retired from the list of hurricane names. Have you ever noticed that the name Andrew is no longer used by the NOAA since 1992?

NOAA says Isabel is Category 4. FS2004 says it's a few scattered clouds, little wind and turblance only if you fly through the center of a cloud. I downloaded the real world weather and found the location of the storm on weather.com. I flew a Cessna from San Juan to the center of the storm and found it a bust. I barely made Grand Turk Island to land with the low fuel light blinking. Maybe I'm not doing something right or maybe a hurricane is something that does not compute with FS2004. I'll try again as it approaches the mainland but I'm kind of disappointed. The good news is that I upgraded my joystick to the wireless Logitech to handle the "action". What action?

remember the storm has to be over an active weather reporting station, and that weather station has to be still there:) if the nearest weather station is 50 miles from the storm it wont show it as being there like you said wait till it hits main land then maybe it will show up.
good luck to those in its path

Well here's my current status. My Dad just bought a generator, we have pulled our boats out of the water, and plywooded the big windows. We are going to get more batteries and fuel for the generator tomorrow. Or, if I get lucky, it may just miss us and curve up the coast, I know I'm going to get rain but maybe not all the wind.

Thanks for the reply about the 50 mile note. I didn't realize that.
I agree about those in it's path. Be smart people, take no chances. As for the talking empty heads on the media who sound disappointed the storm is being downgraded, get a LIFE!

I live in Hampton, Va, (it's on that peninsula between Virginia Beach and Richmond on the yellow map blade linked to) so Isabel is bad news for me too.
If it hits at a Catigory 3, my entire city will be under a few feet of water. Hopefully it'll weaken though...

I heard that it's going to be a catagory 3 soon. However, Isabel is still dangerous even at that level and it's well organized.
My dad and I still don't believe that forecast about Isabel's path. Like I said before, in 1992 Andrew tricked us. Regardless of our advanced weather technology, our weather forecasting abilities is still not good enough to detect the very evry very very very very very minute (my-nute) changes of the weather.
So, how do you know that the forecasts are accurate enough for you to forget about stocking up your hurricane supplies here in the very end of the Southeast region?
Remember, Isabel is still within good range of South Florida.
Fact:
In 1992, the first piece of land that Hurricane Andrew hit was Key Biscayne. It's a Key just South East of Downtown Miami.
In Flight Simulator, Key Biscayne is identified by a lighthouse that is located at the southern tip of the island.

This Hurricane is supposed to travel north and hit Toronto on Friday. We're supposed to get heavy rains and high winds. Glad I don't have to go to school on Fridays.
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.

It's better to be safe and prepare than to say, "Well, it's comming my way, but maybe it'll turn somewhere else."
If
it hits us as forcasted, it would be the wost storm in the area for 200 years. Virginia already declaired a state of emergency today, so I'll be watching it and hope it turns (hopefully away from Fl, too)...

Well we have delayed our trip to Ft Myers, FL untill friday morning. That way it will just be a big ole nasty rain storm in NY when we leave. For those of you on the Eastern seaboard, Hope you all are ready and fair well.
