I was wandering for any of those people who have played both FS 2002 and FS 2004.  Is there any major changes between the two flight simulators?  Is the 2004 wirth buying if you already have the 2002?

Honestly, I haven't tried FS 2004, but many people told me that unless you wanna fly on vintage planes, there are no major changes between the 2002 & 2004 versions. That's the reason why I keep my FS2002 version...

I have both FS 2002 and FS 2004 installed on my computer.
I have tried both but I actually prefer my up-dated version of FS 2002, and that's the one I use... Grin...!
(To get reasonable frame-rates on FS 2004 I find I have to wind the cloud effects down, so then it's no better than FS 2002, and ATC chatter on FS 2002 is O.K for me...)... Wink....!
My overall opinion is that if you're happy with your FS 2002 and the way it runs, and have difficulty in finding the pennies to buy FS 2004, then stick with FS 2002 for a while...it's good... 8)...!

Cheers all... Grin...!

I don't have a state of the art system and can't really afford to update at the moment so I'm sticking to 2k2. I've invested quite a lot of time and effort into building it up, mostly freeware and it's just about where I want it now. So I don't see that  2004 can significantly add anything. Even with weather I've added third part programmes which work fine. Eddie Denneys Real Scenery US Terrain Mesh Scenery is a masterstroke and even he has enhanced his programme since the original release. They say that ATC in 2004 has much improved with a little more flexibility.

Hi Crocker...
Same here mate, for the same reasons. I've got the DEM Terrain Mesh for California and its far superior to default FS 2004 scenery for the same area.
Same goes for the add-on weather programs.
...and Lago's FSSE program... Wink
...and FS Navigator, (showing the fuel pumps..!!).... Wink
...etc...etc....
And the super-dooper frame rates... Grin...!

Too much time spent in up-grading FS 2002 to abandon it right now... 8)...!

Cheers all...!
