Gulfstream AI for Tex (Read 486 times)

Tried out my new Gulf-IV AI on Jeff's route - KJFK to KAUO. I set a repeat time of 8 hours - I don't think 6 is enough which is partly why Jeff has problems with the plane 'disappearing' at KJFK. The route takes a shade under 2 hrs, taxying at JFK took 15 minutes, add another 10 at KAUO that comes to 4 1/2 hrs. Leaves barely 45 mins turnround at each end - may not be enough so the system gets the plane en-route to stay on time before it takes off - ie it disappears on the ground at JFK.

Here's mine parked before takeoff at JFK

...

After nearly 20 mins to taxy and line up (including waiting for a 777 to land and clear the rwy) take off was normal

...

Approach and landing at KAUO were fine

...

BUT THEN

she carried on along the runway and took off again for a go-around.

So I think another of your problems may be, Jeff, that the runway at KAUO is just too darned short for an AI Gulfstream to land, that is unless you want to have an 'unreal' flight model with artificially low speeds.

One of the ways to get round this is to 'fiddle' the runway length in AFCAD ie you change the numbers to extend the runway but the visual doesn't change. Trouble is, you won't know the results until you try it - the plane may go ploughing into the surrounding countryside if it can't stop in time!

Nah

Couldn't have that.

Now redone. Lands and pulls up a treat on KAUO's short runway.

Anyone interested in the FDE files let me know.

How did you get it to do that? I have a PAI jet that i'm trying to get to land at a short runway, but it runs off the end as well. ???

Just reduce the speeds in cfg file reference_speeds section (esp the full flaps stall speed) to slow the approach. Then increase the spoiler drag (because they only activate after landing) to increase the stopping power.

Easy when  you know how Smiley

I should have thought of that, done it enough times for the planes i fly. I just thought that if I change anything, my AI might start doing backflips or somthing. Grin
AI aircraft are strange animals.
