Yup - I like a lot of modern energetic jazz - from the likes of George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Buddy Guy, etc....
One problem with the term 'jazz' is that it covers a huge range of music - from the trumpets of the 1940's to the latest electronic gizmos of today - Totally different styles of music yet thrown in together under the 'jazz' ....
Think Global. It's the world we live in.

I love jazz! Over the past few years I've been teaching myself jazz piano, having taken classical piano lessons for ten years. I'm now at the point where I play nothing but jazz. I'm working with a fantastic bassist and a great drummer right now on some fantastic jazz. We have half a CD recorded, just writing tunes for the other half now.
Being a pianist, it's imperative that I listen to Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock a lot. But I'm also a big fan of the fusion bands like Weather Report. I listen to quite a bit of good big band music, since I play in a big band too. Nothing beats Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band or the GRP All Star Big Band.....man, those guys are insane!
Jazz is what I mostly do when I'm not at the computer. I'm hoping to go and study jazz in a few years in England when I can afford it.....or maybe even the States, that'd be fantastic. But it's so expensive to do that. But until then, I'll just keep playing.
