Hey Oz, wasup!!!! Haven't seen you in a while.

Hey, do you still have the 2-D panel of the Have Blue aircraft we started earlier? I lost the panel after some stupid mistakes I made.

Well, at least I finally found some people who are willing to help with the car's dynamics. Now I have to look for someone who can make the textures and the panel. I can borrow the panel of the earlier Mercedes models in simviation, but the panels won't look so good on a luxury car. Tongue

Does anyone know what's the proper name tag for the flaps? The side windows are animated and linked to the FLAP commands. However, the windows don't seem to wanna open in FS.

Status:

1. Visual Model: Complete
2. Animations: Complete (except the windows)
3. Dynamics: In Progress
4. Texture: Not Started
5. Panel: Not Started
6. Sounds: Not Started

As for the human figure, I already got it.

If you can remember, I uploaded a GMAX-Based human figure that had a rifle on one hand. This was LOOOOONNGGGGG ago.

I used that figure as the pilot. You can find it in the same section as that pilot figure (GMAX Design).

Hey Oz, how's the Citation Project going?

Still got that Have Blue panel, but i think ill update a bit (been gettin much better at PSP..) Illl send it to ya soon. For sounds you might wanna try recording sounds made in car games like NFS and such or a real life car (or simpy ask Bill Lyons for permission to use his Jag sounds) Check out http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?loc=who&page=index Theres lots of people willing to help out with textures and other stuff. The pilot figure i uploaded is really good though, even has a great humanoid face. Take off the pilots cap and vest and hes ready - you should check it out anyways for future projects perhaps  Wink Unfortunately, the CC dev has been going slow by what im seeing, Jlvandem has been busy but he says he'll get back to work in time. Good luck on the project

Thanks for the needed info. I'll check out the link that you provided. I'll also check out the pilot firgure you made. Maybe I can use him as a passanger.

I'm gonna makes some improvements on the rim variations that I posted earlier. Just yesterday, I was looking at some rims of some cars (from hub-caps to spokes to 20's etc.), just to see what I'm missing when I made the rims in Gmax.

Hey, Ender Baron and Daz, any progress on the flight dynamics?

As for me, I have so far made 2 new rim variations. I'm thinking about making spoked rims, but I don't think it'll good on a Mercedes. Maybe it'll look good on other projects that are coming up.

I'll have the templates ready for those who are willing to help me with the textures.

Hey Oz, I don't think those sounds for the Jaguar can fit in a Mercedes. The Jaguar sounds like a sports car. Remember, the Mercedes is a LUXURY car. Grin

PS: This project is almost reaching its climax (or final phase).

Well, I have been fiddling with it for a few days, and here's what happened.

I originally started by slapping on the *.air file and aircraft.cfg from the Jag, just to see what I needed to mess with.  However, I realized immediately that this would be a daunting task, seeing as the Jag "slipped" from side to side when turning, just like an aircraft does at high speeds.  I realized finally that this was because the wheels had no power behind them, and hence no control, as well as the engine having to have directed thrust out the back of the car instead of through the wheels.  I haven't found a fix for this yet, but have been going over the airfile fixing the controls and contact points, etc.

There are a few things I need to know.  What functions did you map? (Aielerons, flaps, tailhook, etc)

Where can I get dimensions for the car? (Wheelbase, tire size, etc.)  I think you want this to be as precise as possible.  To do this, I need the specs, and all the technical stuff, not just the performance specs.

I found some websites that relate to the car.

Remember, this is a 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL600. However, the 2001 version looks exactly the same as the 1998 version. So, I guess you can chose either one. Grin

http://www.rapidcars.com/sl600specs.html

http://www.wetterauer.com.mx/chips/marcas/mercedes/sl600.htm This site is in Spanish. Tongue

http://www.hotuae.com/car/mercedes/SL600.htm Lots of info here. Cheesy

http://www.exoticmotorcarsofpb.com/car_desc/2001_Mercedes_SL600_Red.html There's enough pics here to make the textures. Cheesy

http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/track/2903/SL600.html

http://www.supercars.net/garages/marcusmv3/132v2.html

http://www.chriscarsite.com/stats/stats.mv?mercedes+sl600

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/4028/sl600.txt This site offers the most info. WOW Shocked

This has to be enough to help. Good luck.

Animations Tags Applied:

1. Doors - Main exit
2. Side windows - Flaps
3. Front wheels - linked to a pair box objects that are linked to the rudders
4. All wheels - compression animation is applied and working well.
5. Steering wheel - also linked as a 3rd rudder

What will later be applied:

1. Trunk and hood will be linked to the spoilers

The flaps have been giving me some problems. They don't seem to wanna work in FS. Does anyone here know what are the proper animation tags for the flaps?

Udpate:

I have made some recent changes on the Mercedes' interior (not much). The central arm rest (where the drive shaft is hidden) has been raised by at least 2/3 of a foot. This will give the central arm rest a slope that is just behind the stick shift. I'll post a pic later on for better clarity.

I now have the texture templates ready for those who want to help with the textures. I will e-mail the templates to whoever volunteers.

Status:

1. Visual Model - Completed
2. Animations - Completed
3. Dynamics - In Progress
4. Textures - Ready to start
5. Sounds - Not Started
6. Panel - Not Started

I need to have a report from those who are working on the dynamics or wheel contacts of the Mercedes. I need to know what's going on.

Nice... It's hard to make a car behave like a car in FS is it not? (I have experienced this first hand)

AMD Athlon 64 3700+&&GeForce FX5200 256Mb&&1GB DDR400 DC&&Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD&&Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
&&&&That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they kicked the pants off of my P4 3.4!
