I have been working for quite a long time already. I have gathered up some pics for you to see the variety of styles I can offer once this project is done.

STATUS:

1. Visual Model: Complete
2. Animations: Complete
3. Textures: Not Started
4. Dynamics: No one has still come forward to help.
5. 2-D Panel: About to start. I just need a little help.

STYLES:

Don't mind the big ball that you see. It's just there as referense.

Banana Green
...

Flat Black
...

Interior with new driver model.
...

Thermal Red
...

As you can see, I can do a lot of things with or without textures.

There are still a HUGE variety of colors I came up with. However, I didn't want to take up too much web space. So, I chose some of the best-looking styles.

I am EVEN making a variety of RIMS for you people to choose from.

First, I will do everything I can to get this car finished for FS.

Once everyone has the Mercedes in their aircraft list, I'll get started on customizing. I will let you know when I'm ready.

After Project Mercedes is released and downloaded from simviation, follow these steps:

1. Send a PM (private message) to me with your name, e-mail, and list of options (ex: rim-style, color, tints).

2. I will then work on the model for you. When I'm done, I will send you a pic of the finished model just to give you a preview. It will be sent through e-mail.

3. If you like it, I will convert the design to a *.mdl file. That file will be e-mailed to you.

4. Now, all you'll have to do is replace your old *.mdl file with the new one (backup first).

However, like I said, you'll have to wait until the car is released.

I will soon post some pics of the variety of rims I made already.

It looks great, I would say that it is one of the better cars that can be downloaded. I'm looking forward to the release.

The thing is, you are still a live when they start to eat you.&&...

Someone has once posted me a reply earlier that refered to my project.

He asked what's the point in making a car model in FS if the scenery if dull (low-poly buildings, non-realistic roads, etc.).

I did agree with him. However, this is a no longer the case ever since FS2004 ACOF came out. The new sim has FULL autogen scenery that also includes resturaunts, gas stations and even power facilities.

So, why use a plane or heli to view such scenery if you can view the beautiful scenery through the eyes of a driver? Especially with a very good-looking car.

I have other car projects that will start as soon as Project Mercedes is done.

1. Project Mercedes: 1999 Mercedes SL600 (almost done.

2. Project Corvette: 1960's Corvette Stingray. JLvandam want me to make this. He is currently helping a team that is making the Cessna Citation (business jet).

www.citationcrew.org

3. Project Cherockee: 1999 Jeep Cherockee (for the off-road simers)

4. Project Nissan: Nissan Skyline (for those who want speed and drag racing)

5. Project (you choose): Just give me the make, model, and the year it was made.

Because it's not flying when you're on the ground.

It's about time someone steps forward to help with the dynamics.

In a while, I'll send it to you as a compressed file.

I finally have the pics ready for the rim variations.

...

...

...

I also have the pic of the Mercedes in FS2004. Since this model will be made with FS2002 principals and tools, This car should work for both FS2004 and FS2002.

I had to use the Middleman program along with Mdlcommander so that the specular and ambient surface of the model can be crisp and perfect. Without these programs, the non-textured surface would have looked pathetic.

...

Ok Daz, I'll send you the gmax file in a second.

How will it turn? I hope it turns realistically and not like an airplane.

The Cessna Caravan Amphibian (in FS9 ans 2002) has 4 wheel contact and does not behaive like a 3-wheeler. So, whenever I taxi the plane, it handled more like a car. And just like a car, it's big and heavy. It reminds me of the Hummer (not the H2)Grin

The goal of this project is to acheive as much realism as possible, including the turning characteristics.

Many things will be taken into consideration:

1. Radius (or diameter) of each wheel.
2. Position of each wheel.
3. Gross and Empty weight of the entire vehicle.
4. Station loads (which can be a bit tricky)
5. Turning angles of the front wheels
6. Parasite Drag  on the entire vehicle (amount of friction on the entire surface).

And many more.

I have found a handful of websites that present not only the cars themselves, but also the specs of each one.

However, the specifications can only provide enough information on its basic performance such as Max RPM, Horse Power, Max Speed, Weight, and a few other things. The rest, we 3-D modelers have to find out on our own.

There where many car models that came out ever since FS2000 was released. Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, and a few others. Only the Jaguar was the most detailed out of all of them.

It seems that this flight simulation communtiy is being slowly dominated by the release of the Mercedes models while it is being infected by the quick domination of the jet liners. Wink

Now that you all have seen how far one individual can go with a 3-D modeling program like Gmax and its equal counterpart (FSDS), I might start seeing some of you people make things that you thought were impossible for you.

When I first saw the Jaguar in Simviation, I was completely surprised as to how detailed and carefully made it is. So, I thought to myself this. Once I get a 3-D program (which I did), how far can I go with it?

When I saw those 3Ds Max car model in the onnovanbraam.com website, I was taken by surprise.

I was also surprised when I read a magazine called GameInformer. The same cars that I saw in the site are the same cars featured in the up-coming PS2 game called Grand Turismo 4!!!!
