I have a confession to make, and it pains me greatly. Sad

I cannot make head nor tail of approach plates, they simply don't make any sense to me.  I can find a VOR, fly down an ILS glideslope and navigate using my atlas and a ruler but how in (Insert deity of choice)'s name can you understand these darn things.

If someone can explain them to me in words of one syllabul I will be eternally in their debt.

The reason for this is a friend recently gave me a load of out of date plates for the UK, and I just cant seem to understand them.  I managed to pass the CPL in fs2002 by trial and error, but the others are just beyond me Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Thanks in advance.

Man why you embarassed? Just because you don't know everything like somebody else? Don't worry about it.

s'ok Will, I don't have the foggiest on how do do anything fancy on FS.  I just usually bum around in my favourite aircraft disobeying ATC and everything.  I simply havent got the time (or brain capacity) to handle anything like that.

I'm one of those twisted individuals that take pleasure in the intricacies of approach plates and enroute charts. It comes from flight instructing. That's not a boast, so much as an explanation. I HAD to learn how to teach a topic to students that is generally considered a real "snoozer"!!!  Are you using Jeppeson plates Will?   If you have any specific questions post them.          .....and VOR navigation is also very easy with a little practice Craig. I had to cover the VOR's for my students on cross-country flights, because they
would become TOO reliant upon them, and then not focus on
learning "land nav." skills.     Wink    Pat

.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

lol...pretty good at VOR to VOR, but never tried approach charts as of yet, but I do have a set of North eastern Ohio charts coming from my uncle who is done with them.  sure they're a couple of months old, but he has hradly used most of them...Yay! Free goodies for the sim!
