... its Hucknell Nottinghamshire England,  the Rolls Royce site is under the port wing on pic1, with the outdoor test facility hiding under the fusalage. In pic2 from the other side I think its Watnall on the other side of the M1. The model display was at the end of the old main, hard surface runway (dissused), just off to the right of pic1.

Oh my God!! I live there!! I almost went to the show yesterday, but ended up at East Midlands instead. I can't quite spot my house though.

Roger, that sounds like quite a revelation  ???......now you know where you live !  Shocked

You're gonna have to hang up that X-45 for a bit and go fly over where you are, in a full size...........it can be enlightening..... Grin

Nice plane kemplen,......I got it a while ago and like it too...  8) ......by the way, where are the pics of the Model Jets ?....ducted fans and turbines ?

And to think, it took a VFR screen shot to show me the way home Wink
I've never seen Nottinghamshire in VFR before and the default 2K2 Hucknall looks nothing like Hucknall!
Wish I'd gone to the show now. I went to the last Rolls Royce air show back in July and you've all seen the photos.

Kemplen, did the Vulcan turn up? It was a very impressive sight at the last show. The guy with the Victor did not show up last time though.

.... no Vulcan this time just the Victor .... there was quite a nice F86 Sabre and a Meteor, (altough the Meteor was an ic ducted fan job and the cowls looked a little large) .... There was a Euro Fighter (but it was red), quite impressive though doing square loops and hanging almost in the stall on the thrust alone,  those jets are so powerful and fast, some of the non scale deltas were incredibley fast in the low level fly pasts. We had a good time .....

... not such a good shot of the Sea Fury, but the VFR Photo Scenery Shows of Hucknall to its full .... it looks just like that for real .... was lucky enough to get a ride in a flight out of there a few years back in a little red Jodell ....

...

..... can you see your place now? ..... imagine seeing some of the R/R flying test beds taking off out of there.  Tongue

Thanks for that shot pal, I can make out all the landmarks I know so well from that. I must get myself some of this VFR scenery.

I get a real feeling of pride when I think about some of the aviation legends that were borne right there on that field, and a sad feeling when I see it so run down looking today.

.... can't recomend the scenery enough, ... its great for trips down memory lane .... I think if you buy it direct from getmapping on the web its now only about £17 with free UK delivery per volume .... you would need vol2 for this area .....  Wink
