Smoke fills the briefing room at Biggin Hill Airbase, London, England. 5, June, 1944 0650 hours.
Allright, boys, time to get moving. Your mission is an armed Recon over northern France, more specificly, Caen. About 20 miles southwest is Juno Beach. I want you boys to get pictures of the Riech's Coastal Defense System, and llok for any good airbases that we might take from the Nazi's. AA will be very heavy as the Germans know we're coming, but they don't know when, so they'll be on a heightend state of alert. You're '51's have been outfitted with stripes for the invasion sometime soon. Remember, just look for airbases and the CDS. Nothing more, nothing less. May God be with you. Liftoff at 0930.
Liftoff.
Getting in formation.
On the way.
More images to come.

Nice shots and I love the commentary. I think you will find that that's a 51B/C and not a D model however. You can tell the D by the bubble canopy.
Still great shots pal.

Yes, it's a B. I started this before everyone thought so, and I didn't bother to change it...

This is the P-51D, very distinguishable... not just by the bubble canpoy, but the overall shape and design.

I seem to notice in the first pic you have bombs, and in the 2nd and 3rd you have drop tanks.
Anyway, brilliant pics, and keep them coming!

Sorry, to sound so technical Flyboy... but I was just pointing out that HawkerTempest said that you can tell by the bubble canopy, but as you can tell though the D is very distinguishable in shape as well. Oh, who cares... nice pics.
