Help wanted: Removing static aircraft (Read 327 times)

Hi there
I'm using NL2000 scenery and would like to remove the static aircraft from EHAM airport.
I located the EHAMstat.BGL but just removing it doesn't solve it of course...get the annoying "library object missing" message.
Could someone please explain the correct procedure on removing static aircraft please?

thanks a lot
AJ

AJ not sure if this will help but if you found the bgl you
can decompile it with SCDIS which will render the SCASM
source code from there if you have a scenery creation
program you may be able to import the source code and
do your editing there otherwise you would have to edit
the source code itself and recompile it with SCASM. I have been learning about this from various tutorials and
the utilities I have mentioned are all available here. SCDIS and SCASM are DOS progs. but there are frontend
programs which will run them from Windows. SCASM is
quite envolved and will not be easy to edit if you donot
understand the language. Wish I could say what you
want to do is easy but its not.

That's clear enough.
I'll stay away from it....will modify the AFCAD files instead.

Thanks for the replies. Smiley

Cheers

No offence PH, but we scenery designers can be a bit touchy about modifications to our hard work. If you want airport scenery that is compatible with your addon AI traffic, the best thing to do is design it yourself. It's not that hard really, just get either Airport or FSSC and download macros of buildings, gates etc. You can then line up you're gates so your AI traffic will park at them. I plan on doing this myself in FS2004 as soon as I learn AFCAD, Ttools etc.

Gumby,

I understand what you say. I was not critisizing (dunno if that's spelled correct...) anyone's work. I really really like what you guys do  Grin Grin Grin.
Here's my point though: It seems like EHAM in NL2000 scenery is designed to work with the default AI traffic. Because there is not much of it, the airport is crowded with statics to make it look somewhat "alive". I bought FsTraffic 2002, so now there is a lot more traffic. This disapears on landing if all parking spaces are occupied. My thought was to remove the statics so I can add more parking. Not because I don't like the scenery!

This is even more the case with one other airport which I downloaded and really like. There is no possibility to create even just 1 parking for an airliner because the ramp is completely filled with statics.

If you are a scenery designer then maybe this feedback is something you could use to your advantage; it is most certainly not ment to hurt your feelings . As far as I understand FS2002 is a very "open" program, you can change things if you want to and that's what I like about it.
From your words I understand that you get touchy if somebody likes your scenery and wants to use it, but has to change it a bit to make it work with all the other things he added to the sim...It's your right to have this rule of course but I don't think I would use your scenery then.
There's some other scenery designers out there that include instructions on how to remove statics from an airport, or give you the option of either a "full" installment (with statics) or installation without them. Suits my needs better.

Greetings
AJ

The point wasn't that you might not like the scenery, I couldn't care less if anyone does. I design scenery for ME. I upload it in case anyone might want it. If they don't, then they know where the trash can is.
My point is that if my scenery was designed without addon AI aircraft in mind, then i'm not going to change it to suit every single person out there that installs it.
My suggestion to you is to get Airport 2.9, some macros and get to work. Then when people download your airport, you can deal with the emails. If you need help, i'd be more than glad to help, provided you help me with AFCAD. Grin

Point taken.
It's very nice of you offering to help me out using Airport 2.9  But I am not looking  for a program to create my own scenery because that will raise even more questions. All I want to know is how to remove static aircraft from scenery, if at all possible  Cheesy.

Sorry to hear that. I often send an e-mail if I like something I downloaded. Thought it would be appreciated.

I am not sending e-mails to a scenery designer asking them to redesign his scenery for me, I am at this forum learning how to do things myself  Wink. I think this forum is a place where you can get help from people who are willing to help. If you are not in the mood to help me out - no problem.
