I always liked the theme from "Friends", I think its by the Rembrandts, sorry but that's the best I could do, I don't watch much TV unless it's the news, something educational or Uranium on the fuse station.
I'm big into channel surfing though, because I can't stand commercials, that's my que to surf.

The best TV theme show ever is the theme from 'Cheers' without a doubt. Second best may be 'Mad About You'
But there is always...
Green Acres is the place to be,
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide,
take Manhattan, just give me that countryside.
New York is where I'd rather stay,
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Darling I love you, but give me Park Avenue.
You are my wife...
Goodbye city life!
Green Acres we are there!
I did that from memory!!

I read this a day or two ago and have been trying to think of a good TV theme! These are what I came up with:
Tour of Duty (Paint it Black by the Stones)
Star Trek Voyager (Best Trek theme?)
Airwolf (classic TV theme now given a new lease of life as a polyphonic mobile phone ring tone!)
The Itchy and Scratchy Show (Just makes my laugh!)
Flying Legends

I haven't had to suffer a television of my own for nearly 30 years now...happy...happy...happy...
...!
But..
because of that I listen to the radio all the time....
...!
And..
The most
ANNOYING
theme of all time to me is "The Archers" theme..."Dum te dum te dum te dum..."
I can now move at the speed of light to switch the radio off before the first note sounds...
...!
If I can't make it quick enough I actually count the number of notes I have had to suffer before I finally reach the "On/Off" switch...
...!
..and not only that, I have to suffer ENDLESS repeats..
...!
..as for television themes?...errr...30 years ago?...errr...can't remember that far back....
...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!
Cheers all..!
Paul..."Dum te..."...ZAPP...!

Actually, Star Trek: The Next Degradation's theme was lifted from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Out of all of the Star Trek show's, My favorite theme was for Deep Space Nine. Of course, that is also the most under-rated show of the bunch too...

Hi Craig...
It was produced electronically in the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop using crude oscilators.... 8)....!

Paul you've been spending too much time on the wrong side of the border mate
Oh and general Dr. Who factoid here, the noise of the TARDIS materalising and dematerialising was made my dragging a metal ruler up and down a piano wire, and then playing the recording of the noise v.slowly
I know lots of useless stuff about Dr. Who, one of my all time favourite sci-fi series. Far more intelligent than any other.
Okay for an extra point what does TARDIS stand for?

Tom Baker without a doubt the finest of the Dr. Whos.
My dad once met Patrick Troughton (the 2nd Doctor) in a restaraunt in Amersham, and got an autograph for himself

I have a funny idea the some of the introduction music may have been produced using the "THERAMIN"...?
Does anyone remember that musical instrument...?
It consisted of an electronic oscillator and a loudspeaker, where the frequency could be smoothly changed by passing a hand over it's aerial..
I have made several replicas of it many years ago in my electronics workshop... 8)...!
...long before my Yamaha Digital Programmable DX7 synthesizers were invented...
...!
Cheers all...

Paul.

Peter Gunn - I only saw it a couple of times on late night TV but it was a good song. I think they used in the video game Spy Hunter, and Emerson Lake and Palmer did a pretty good rendition.
Not one of my faves, but Beverly Hillbillies has some good guitar and banjo licks. Flatt & Scruggs.

Definitely Thunderbirds - incidental music in the episodes too.
Fozzer: did you you know that the theremin was named after the Russian guy (named ... Theremin) who invented it? Most famous outing was in the movie 'The Day The Earth Stood Still', with Michael Rennie (and Gort).
