A little story relevant to fs2002 weather

wanted to go out today , to a safari park with the family , but weather on tv said rain all day , ugh

Checked various weather pages on internet they said may clear up , MAY clearup

hmm i thought if i fly over the place i want to go to in fs ,  using the local weather downloaded from jepesson , that should hopefully give me a good idea as to what to expect

so we went , due mainly to the jepesson interpretation of the weather

and do you know it was exactly right

i mean exactly

the same cloud formation and everything

in the end a good day was had by all

How do they do that , jepesson i mean , where does the info come from and how often is it changed ?

As I understand they get the information from the weather stations in the airports. KMIA for example, is 24 hour airport so you expect to always get weather very close to the real one. A small airport that closes say after 10, the weather you would get if it was 3 AM was the one around 10PM.

I think its like that.

Other than that, a forecast or report for a large region (as you will get from the newsstation) could never be as precise as the one from a local weatherstation. I mean, they only have to cover their area. Weather can vary within a few miles so the local one is bound to be more precise.
Look at the guys in formula 1; they can predict if it's gonna rain at the racerack within 20 minutes or so, something you could never do for a larger region.
Jeppessen use local weatherreports so they will be very precise. I bet it's something like that.
The weather here at EHTE is sh.. by the way so I just took the virtual Aero Commander from my home to the south of Germany. It wasn't untill shut-down at EDMK that I realised it has an autopilot, disguised as a lunchbox. Stupid old aeroplane but at least it's pretty and sounds right.

I'll have a beer now with some cheese&onion crisps.
Cheers
AJ
