For those who don't know, Mars will be the closest to Earth TONITE!!!!! So, all you Brits, in an hour or so, grab your binocs or telescope, and check it out!!! Look South. And for us Americans, check at about 10:00-12:00PM. (And I don't know the time everywhere else.

Last wednesday me and my friend had to endure a small child going on and on about how that night mars would be the closest its been for many years. Does that mean the small kid was telling porkies?

I took my telescope out really early this morning and looked at it. I wasn't terribly impressed to be honest-I have done a lot of "star gazing" in my life and have a really good quality telescope. I noticed that Mars was slightly bigger than it has been in the past-but there wasn't much of a change. But, it was still fun to look at.

Any idea of where it will be in the North American sky? I've already go the telescope out but I need a location.
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.

I just heard a news flash on the radio from the United States,.............
"It is reported that at 8:50 p.m. a huge, flaming object, believed to be a meteorite, fell on a farm in the neighborhood of Grovers Mill, New Jersey, twenty-two miles from Trenton."

The first time I heard that, I flipped!!!! Of course, I was 7, and very impressionable.

I think Rifleman's callsign should be "Orson" after Orson Welles and the fiasco he started with War of the Worlds! LOL

I've been able to see it for the past couple of nights. Along with the rest of the sky. I can remember the last time it was this clear at night around here. Could see so many consolations, and I saw the milky way for the first time.
