To create a freeware aircraft is great.  To create a payware product is fine.  But to release something as free...realise that you have cornered the market on your product...and remove it from circulation...thats wrong.  Once a product is free it should remain free.

Hum.... this basic concept is a tactic that has been used by many companies for product introductions in the past.  Go into a market. get the product in the consumer's hands by giving it away at events, packing it in "free" with another product purchase, and so on, then judge the reaction of the public.... and then if it "flys" (  Wink ).... you SELL it.

Everywhere you go at various events you get XXXXXXX at a booth for free.  After a while you think that everyone is eating/drinking/using it.  It's everywhere. You develop a desire for it....particularly when suddenly you can't get it.  Then you see it in the store.... and you buy it.

Just because an item used to sell for $0.02.... does that mean it should not now sell for $2.00?  So it it was once free....... why should it not now cost something?

best,

the only problem here is this and i will use arcab for expample

it used to be freeware and was bloody great so people downloaded it...then they decide to make it payware and low and behold you forget to back the program up before you format your hard drive...the same thing now costs a fair bit of money.

they should enhance it and modify it cram it with tonnes of features then make it payware and leave the freeware alone.. at worse even stop upgrading the free verision....

stupidity if you ask me

Well, most of you might know about the project I'm on.

After reading this thread, it now scares me. What is one day, my add-on might become too popular? Then chances are, I might become desperate for money. However, thank god that there are other ways to be rich.

I follow a certain saying. "Why should anyone have pay money to have any fun?" Addon are meant to give fun.

Guys, I don't understand. Back then, everyone was making freeware product just for the hell of it. Just giving people the fun they deserve.

Now look at the FS world today. Not only are some people monopolizing on a product that used to be freeware, but now this entire payware-addon thing seems to become more like an industry. God save us and our wallets.
