I must agree with Fidji...
I flew CFS_2 for a couple of years before v3 was released, and it was an
integral part of the game that you could land briefly at your airbases and re-arm your aircraft at any time you could break from the engagement... 8)
I enjoyed the occasional landings as it was a break from the 'ratt-a-tat-tat' and 'Watching Your 6'... Landings are fun too.. (And Very Realistic To Boot)
To remove this feature from CFS_3 was
INSANE, and for all it's 'better graphics' and smoother gameplay (Get a BIG CPU for all the ppl that are gonna say it's jumpy or slow
) I regret to say it feels much more like an arcade game now, rather than a simulator...
Killing yourself to re-arm is maddness, what
WERE they thinking ?
The only other downside is the lack of control you get over the Views that are available to you... I used to set CFS_2 up with multiple windows so that I had 200 degree field of view from my flying position and a closeup window for targeting..
Try doing that, or anything even remotely useful, in CFS_3.
A lot of things about it are truly faster, smoother and better IMHO
, but the features Microsoft deemed unfit to include from version 2, are the features that makes version 2 the best one for Sim fans and Realism...
If you have more money that you know what to do with, buy it, run it on your super-computers and marvel at it's graphics.. BUT, for the flight simm'ers out there, after half an hour you'll be reinstalling CFS_2 all over again...
