just a question

i have an old asus motherboard capable of supporting pc2700 ddr ram and i have a 512 stick of pc2700 ddr. if i upgrade my motherboard to a board with pc3200 compatable ram slots can i still keep the 512ddr 2700? and i know it wont work as fast as 3200 ram but just wanted to know if it will work with it?

i hope that made sense because im still trying to figure it out myself

Your new PC3200 RAM will run at 333 mhz (166 X2). However, if you leave the PC2700 RAM out, you may be able to overclock your RAM up to it's posted speed (400 mhz, or 200mhz X 2).

Your P4 or AMD Athlon CPU will be overclocked, but if you have a good heatsink and fan you should be okay. Smiley
