As the title states, I have got a bit of a problem with a pesky virus which has been bombarding my e-mail.
The virus, named W32.Sobig.F@mm has been sent to me from many non-existant e-mail adresses or has been reproducing its self from other people computers.

Ever since this morning I've had about 120 e-mails sent to me containing this one virus. This might not be so bad for people running Broadband (Cable) connections but I run a 56k connection on a comuter with a relatively slow processor, what is worse I am constantly haveing Norton Anti-virus windows pop up asking me what to do about the virus.

The following website has a definition of the virus that may be useful.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sobig.f@mm.html

I have downloaded the virus removal software and have currently got Norton Anti-Virus 2002 with regular live updates so taking care of the virus is not the problem, I'm just wondering what to do to stop me having to recieve these e-mails and stopping them spread.
One bad point also is that I have been getting 'Return to Sender' e-mails from my mailing network saying that I could not send an e-mail that I had never written which contained the virus I had been recieving.
This was after I had Quarantined the virus so that they could not spread.

Could someone please give me any ideas on what to do if this type of thing happens again.
Thanks

The exact same thing happened to me... well kind of. I wasn't getting the virused emails but I was getting returned emails saying my message couldn't be sent because it contains a virus. So the virus was sending out emails. Once I cleaned the computer with norton that all stopped happening though.

Are you using a program for your email or is it in the browser like hotmail? Alot of email services let you filter out emails. If you can't do that you might want to look into getting one of those email filter programs. I can't recemend one though since I've never used any before. I believe norton and mcafee both have one. I don't know exactly how they work.. Im guessing since the program runs on your computer you would still have to download the email before the program can filter it.  So I don't know if it would fix the problem.

Good luck.
