Well today I rushed out and bought Flight Simulator A Century of Flight, came home and started the installation which took about 8 minutes suprisingly!

Had my first few flights and was very impressed however it took some time before I have in the configuration I have now, my only problems lies in the water detail. I can get the sun to reflect off the water with low detail and although this looks great I would like the high detail. I have included too pics to describe this because when I put the water detail on high the sim becomes unplayable ie horrible FPS, but if I look straight down onto the sea it plays perfectly 30+ FPS and when I look at clouds and the water it goes down to about 3fps.

Does anybody else have this problem and is there a way to fix it, otherwise its a great game and I hope to spend as much time on it as I spent on FS2002!!

Water on low detail with great Frames.

...

Water on high detail but with about 3-5 FPS

...

Final shot including low detail water and the tremendous sky colours.

...

Thanks for reading!!

Looking good. Your water frame rates would be better with an Nvida.  Grin I just said that to bug you. I turned the weather detail way down. Even at low it's still a lot better than FS2002.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. Thanks for the replies, I have found that if I put the water detail on high when you fly it doesn't matter if you are by the water or not it stutters when you look at the horizon or have sky and ground in the same view.

Strange but the new ATI driver they are designing for FS2004 will hopefully cure this and the flashing problem.

Paul2k10.........more to follow.
