Hello Fellow Aviators,
As you can see I like Dash 8's.
My question is as follows;
I have a DeHavilland Dash 8-400Q in BRITISH EURPEON liveries.
The problem is that 10 mins into the flight my aircraft chucks a crumb-spit, OVERSTRESSED!!!
Immediatley after take off I reduce the power to 44% torque which seems low, but this maintains a 15 degree pitch 1000ft Vertical Speed and 150Knts (IAS).
I try to feather the Props, lean the fuel with minimum or no reaction to the gauges until its too late.
Is this my problem, is the setting/s in the Aircraft.CFG to high for the aircraft to handle?
Does this seem like it should be a AI aircraft?
Has anyone else had this problem before?
Hoping to rectify this problem, I look forward to any suggestion/comments you would like to share.
Thanks

Well, reading what you said (I hope its a typo) you are trying to feather the props in the air? that is the equivalent of suicide in any turboprob airplane, similar to reversing in the air. Hopefully it was a typo, if it wasnt, give me the link, ill look into it.

Found your plane and flew it. Those figures are all over the place-I can see where you'll overstress quickly and adjusting prop, torque etc won't help.
If you're keen on flying that plane you'll have to go to the Aircraft file and make changes in it to get a better flight profile.
I'd suggest you open it up and have a look at what is in there and if you make any changes make a copy of the file before you do, so you have a back-up if something doesn't work.
A good starting point would be to get real performance data for that plane and then adjust the file to achieve a best result.
If you strike major problems I'm sure those here with more knowledge than me will step in to help.
Cheers

Thanks Fella's
It's not that I like that particular aircraft with thos liveries, it's the only Das 8-400Q I have.
Although I will search for a performance chart and try and modify the CFG, if you know of any Dash 8-400Q's out there that you recommend, please let me know.
Thanks again

Hi SV. Can you give me the original file name or a link to where you got it, and I'll take a look and see if I can't rewrite the .air file for you.
Also if I were you I'd turn the stress thing off. Its one of the worst features in 2k2, totally innacurate. I've managed to break an Extra 300 in half doing simple aerobatics with it on!!!

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Just go and get the Dash 8 fde off my website and edit the aircraft.cfg file for your model's details and contact points.
That way you'll also get a proper working autopilot that M$ couldn't be bothered to do for turboprops.

Hey I'm back,
I found the file at your site, Rollerball. Thismorning when I visited, I never noticed the Download page, (must be one too many red-eye flights)
Got it now so thanks

You're very welcome
I hope you can improve on the fde. I spent so long messing around with it over several weeks I was going goggle-eyed so I just said - That's It!
Keep me posted
