Hello fellow Aviators

I can't understand why the SimIcons aren't popping up the windows onced pressed.

I use CFGedit to desing my panels the way on them, but when I add a GPS display toggle switch, it won't direct the appropiate window to pop up once pressed.

I have this problem with GPS, Throttle, Radio etc.

I've checked the properties of these gauges, and the .CFG in the panel folder to find nothing to modify to rectify the problem.

Can anyone advise on what I need to do to have these gauges work in conjunction with each other.

Thanking you in advance

Use Notepad to look at the panel.cfg file of a default such as the 737_400

The pop-up panels must have the correct ident names

eg GPS_PANEL, RADIO_STACK_PANEL

That's probably your problem

Can't remember, but I don't think that the window number is specific for the pop-ups in the way the views are

When I put together a new panel, if I'm using SimIcons, I just find a panel with the properties I'm looking for (i.e. same number of engines, etc) and use the SimIcon specified in that panel, then copy the entire section that the icon specifies into my new panel's .cfg file.

Thanks Fella's

I will try both suggestions,

Some of my defualt aircraft are missing gauges or are in magneta, I've totally lost the default GPS!!!!

Looks like a re-install of Fs2002 is closer than I thought.

Thanks Again

Reinstalling can only help you!  I reinstalled just today, to fix some issues with DirectX where I didn't know what I had done.  It worked, and as an added bonus I got to reconfigure the display settings from scratch again.  Gave me an even better tweak than I had before, and now my sim looks better than ever.  I think I'm going to start reinstalling once a month just to keep things controlled.

Thanks Ender

I too have just finished re-installing, pretty pain staking when you have so many downloaded aircraft and add-on scenery.
Last time I didn't think to back up all my add-ons which left me hours of installing from a back-up cd.

Today, I backed up all non default aircraft and all gauges to a different drive. This lets me just pop these folders straight back into the original folder/s. Saved about 2 hours.

All is back to normal with only a couple of guages missing somewhere along the line.

I shall now try and retify the SimIcons problem.
I think I know what's wrong.

I was wondering if you would know why my SAAB 340 shows up completely white in the simulator. I have the REX liveries/textures for it, but no matter what I do to the Aircraft.CFG I can not get the textures to show.

Any Ideas would be most appreciated.

First of all, why are you having to reinstall the addons when you have uninstalled?  When I uninstall, the program leaves behind anything that FS didn't install from the disks.  I know this is a default option because I have heard others speak of this same thing.  What exactly do you do when you uninstall?

To answer your second question, the textures might be for another SAAB 340 model that you don't have.  Or they might be in the wrong format for the aircraft.  Check the other texture folder(s) to see if they have the same number of files, same file names, etc.  If they don't match up then there is something wrong.  If they do match up and the files are in the right format, then post the pertinent bits of the aircraft.cfg (flightsim.0, flightsim.1, etc) and I can look it over.

Thanks Ender,

Yeah its funny you ask that,
When I go to uninstall, I use partition magic to completely reformat the drive partition that FS2002 is located. I never thought that the unistall from FS would only delete it's original folders. At least this way I have a clean install and hopefully no problems.

But watch your telling me is that, I can uninstall FS2002 and it will leave the add-on files and folders in their original location???, But when reinstalling FS, won't these files and folders be overwritten with FS defualt??
If not, exactly how do I do this.
Do I go to the Root Directorty of FS2002 and click the un-install icon, or do I put the first disk in and tick un-install drom the disk??
Sorry to be a pain, but if I can save 30 to 80 minutes each time I re-install, I will almost look forward to it!!!

And with the Saab 340, I've tried almost everything to retrieve the textures, I remember having them once in the earlier days and the aircraft looked spot on, but back in those days I was just starting to tinker around with files and folders to get the most out of FS. Although I am quite adiment about backing up my data before modifying it, for some reason this aircraft has chucked a huge crum-spit.

I guess the old say applies, If it still works, DON'T FIX IT!!!

Anyway, learnt a lot since then, and still have a hell of a long way to go, eventually I will work it out

I shall see about posting the CFG file directly

Thanks in advance

By the way Fella's

Thanks for you advice on the SimIcon's,

I modified the Panel.CFG identical to the default boeing 737. A lot of cutting and pasting, but the and result was successful.

Thanks again

First off, uninstall either way--the effect will be the same.  Second, when you reinstall with stuff already in the folders where FS is going to go (aircraft, scenery, gauges, etc) FS just goes into those folders and searches for anything it has on its disks that isn't already in there and then adds it.  This way, you only take out what FS put in and vice-a-versa.
