Hi everyone, can someone help me solve a particularly annoying problem to do with cloud layers. When flying I've recenty noticed a distinct cut off edge which seems to separate the next upper level of cloud type. Sometimes its more pronounced but its always there. I had installed Chris Willis's FS Skyworld SE but got the same effect. I noticed Chris says in his installation notes that if this appears its nothing to do FS Skyworld.  I've since uninstalled this programme but the problem persist. Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it?  Thanks Sad

For starters: I haven't solved it.
On the other hand, I never had it before I installed FS Sky World SE. So in my opinion it most certainly has something to do with this (otherwise brilliant) add-on I think. Come to think of it: I didn't notice it until I added "jet trails" to the upper level. It doesn't bother me to much by the way.
But if someone has a solution...

I've never added Skyworld but I think I know what you are talking about.  It seems to me that the problem is with the way FS makes the cloud layers.  One layer doesn't "filter" down into another layer, so you have levels where there aren't any clouds due to the breaks in the cloud layers.  As far as I know there isn't any way to fix this, but I am by no means an authority on the subject.

Thank you for your replies. I can live with the problem but its just knowing its there which takes the edge off the never ending strive for perfection!! I'll just have to be more discrimatory in selecting my weather - night flying might be the answer!

The way I do it (and its not the only way) is to make a single cloud layer go up to, say, 30,000 ft.  This is usually higher than I will fly (I fly single-engine props mostly) and then have other cloud layers on top of that, so I rarely see the division line.  Also, making the bottom layers thicker than the ones on top kind of solves the issue.  Just play around with the settings a lot until you find something suitable.  (Yeah, I know, its the answer to everything--play around with it! Roll Eyes)

If you have FSUIPC installed you can set it to soften the transition. The layer is still there but is not so noticeable. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Sorry but I can't find what I'm looking for to make life easy for everyone,so-----

Go to ESSENTIAL FILES P1 here at Simv and download Fsuipc.zip. Install that following the instructions. When you are in FS Fly Now, hit Alt and you will have a menu board show at the top of the screen.
Select OPTIONS and this will bring up fsuipc.
You can play around with the settings in there to get the results I described before. Cheers

Actually, just to be semantic, click on MODULES and that will give you a pull-down with FSUIPC in it. Wink

No! That is simply being correct and I'm sorry if I have mislead anyone. My apologies.

Thank you Ender Smiley

It's true what they say then about the simming community; the support is fantastic and I hope one day to be able to return the favor to some other flyer in trouble. I will 'play around' with layers etc as you have suggested. Thanks to you all for responding.  8)
