The lady next door, father passed away and
she got his computor!!

windows 98
440mz
32ram
1.5gb hd

I removed all the online gambling dialers,34 Roll Eyes
some photos, and a lot of educational software!!
did a restore, disc clean up and degrag.
My question! why do we have only 103 mb
available? Before the clean up it was 32 mb!
We have no restore CD!
She wants to store photos, make greeting cards
and write letters! There is no room for the photos!

Any ideas!!

There is a road atlas program, it will not uninstall
without the CD! And I can not find a folder for it!!
It may be a large file!!

Any help is welcome!!

I think the OS and the atlas program are taking the most room. If you know the name of the program, just do a simple search for it. If there are things she wants, back them up to floppy disks (I doubt a computer like that has a burner) and erase the hard disk. I hope she has the original OS disk with her or your toast if you erase it on the HD. You could use your copy of Windows (as long as it's not XP) but that's piracy and Bill Gates will hunt you down to the ends of the earth.  Grin

She also has the choice of buying a larger hard disk, they've come down in price significantly. That's her choice though.

Hope this helps a bit.

Did you take out the hard disk - check the jumper settings are not clipping the drive at a lower disk allocation.

clean the TEMP directory
Scandisk for lost clusters can give you a lot of space back

Buy a new hard drive. :p You can get a 120 gig drive for $100 if you look in the right places. Wink

Or, go find another old computer. Buy it for $10 and pull the drive out and put it in as a slave in the computer you are fixing up. Wink
