heading indicator..
what causes this to be inaccurate?
im getting screamed at by atc to expedite my turn because this thing is not on the money. the only way i was able to correct it was to sorta cheat by using the flight map.
what causes them to cancel my IFR flight plan out of the blue? it had been two minutes or so since my last directive and they said it was cancelled.
another great thing about IFR happened the other day.. i was flying dutch harbor to akutan alaska, a short hop in a seaplane for fun. they vectored me right into a mountain. wee.

Hello Deuce.
The closer you get to magnetic north, the greater the variation in your heading indicator and your actual heading. Try hitting Shift+Z, this gives your heading as a degree in the red writing at the top, sorry if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs!) You can then adjust the cockpit guage to this more accurate version.
Alternatively you can switch off magnetic variation in the realism settings.
Finally you could get yourself some charts of the area you are flying in, buy the little calculator things (or thingies) that the proper pilots use. Ignore ATC, fly VFR and make it as real as it gets LOL.

yeah.
i was flying the aerial chauffeur missions where IFR is part of the deal. id like IFR if it worked, but im fine with tuning into the VOR/ILS and intercepting my course and all of that.

It wouldn't surprise me if the missions were as bugged as the lessons. Try the magnetic variation thing and see if that works.
