No idea.  I don't even think anyone is working on a modern aircraft at the moment.  Sorry.

Hi SPITFIRE_24,

You can get Jerry Beckwith's Grumman F9F-2 Panther jet fighter for CFS3, an original gMax design at

http://www.mudpond.us/aircraft3_index.html

It's a great jet and fun to fly. He did a good job with it.

The F9F-2 Panther is NOT a modern aircraft.  It first flew in 1949!!!  That's 54 years ago.

You are so right Developer. I was confusing modern aircraft with the third of the three main CFS3 aircraft categories of pre, during, and post-WWII aircraft. So modern aircraft would be a subsection of the latter.  Smiley

Nonetheless, it IS fun to fly.

Actually their is a F86 that is just about finished and a MIG-15 aswell.

Not modern enough, welp their is also a F-105  being worked a C-130, and a B1B.

If you don't mind payware their is a F-16, Tornado, and a Gloster meteor F.3 that are out and available to buy for a reasonable price.

No word on when the others will be out, but be patient they are coming.  Grin

I'm broadband challenged here too so a 56K multiplayer match should be to say the least interesting, but  I'll give it a try if you'd like.

I've only multiplayed half a dozen times because of my connection. For a 56K connection it seems very stable at 48kbps but still nowhere near the needed mega speed of cable or DSL. With all the combat simming that I do I can't be all that bad but I get shot down 10 or more times for every bogie that I bring down. The broadbanders see me an hour or two before I see them and have a good laugh.  Smiley

Someday I'll be offered broadband way out here in the burbs and play a lot more multiplayer, perhaps even join a squadron.

I'm waiting on Ubi Soft/Eagle Dynamics' release of LO:MAC which is slated for September 23, so getting some flight time in on a fast supersonic jet is needed. I just received a copy of Flanker 2.5 from Amazon yesterday and will be installing it today. Hey, it was only 10 bux plus shipping. It's a pretty old combat flight simulator but with the added downloads it shouldn't be too bad. From the screenshots that I've seen at the Lomac and Flanker forums it should tide me over till September.

If you need any help, message me.

Check out the upcoming LO:MAC combat flight simulator and the Ubi forums here:

I guess we'll just have to wait for the designers to start modelling the modern stuff for CFS3, Its taken long enough for a Hurricane (Which should have been there from the start! IMHO) never mind the Lancaster etc etc etc

Anyway, as somebody's already hinted at, Just Flight have a rather fine Tornado for CFS3! Alas, I found this in my local "Game" store for £28! -  not really very good value for a few extra planes.  Angry

I'm tempted to wait for the freeware to appear ,which in the case of Bonzonie for example, tends to better many a  payware plane - just look at his FS2000 / CFS2 B52!  8)

Lago's F-16 is a good modern era jet fighter that works well in CFS3. It looks and handles great. The only drawbacks are that the pilot is still the 1940's era pilot that's in every CFS3 cockpit and he ejects in the same way ... no ejection seat. And the wheel brakes are very weak on the flight model so you really need a lot of room to stop the aircraft. This is a built in limitation of CFS3 and not the aircraft itself. The flaps only have one increment and the sound .xml file needs to be edited a bit to get the sound of the cannon to work. Other than those few drawbacks it's really fun to fly.

Surprisingly, the framerates are just as good as the CFS3 stock aircraft.

All the weapons work but of course are unguided.

Oh, I forgot to mention the biggest drawback. It costs $28.00 USD. Ouch.

I wish Ubi Soft/Eagle Dynamics would hurry up and get LO:MAC released. It's already two years past due!
