Hello everyone!  Im new to the forum so if this is in the wrong sectiion or summat jst lemme no!  I'm havin a problem on the ppl checkride on fs2002!  I can do everything up to and including the steep turn and then i head off towards the bridge!  I am then instructed to turn to a heading of 180 and then to enter the left downwind leg of runway 35!  I no which airfield it is (i think- the one jst before the bridge on the right?!?) but which way do i have to land?  do i have to go on the left side of the runway or the right when i enter the pattern? please help if you can!

Welcome Moose.

I think that the runway you need is the other side of the river.  I just flew straight at it and landed to pass.  Good luck mate.

It's been over a year since I did this one, but I recall failing a few times before getting it.  It is true that the examiner stops talking to you after the steep turn.  At first, I would fly too far past the downwind leg, because I was waiting for the examiner to tell me what to do, but she never did.  I finally tried doing a standard VFR approach.  I went on the downwind for the appropriate distance, then turned to base, and onto final.  You just can't go too far on the downwind.

I hope this helps.   Smiley
