Hi, trying to add a sound system to my new heli, but its not playing, what changes have to be made to the air file for them to work.
And should any chages be made to the aircaft.cfg
I already have a sound.cfg made.
Thanks
Alan, and sorry if its in the wrong board.

Alan you should only edit the sound.cfg file in the sound folder, nothing else. Have you made this file and the actual sound files as well?

Hi, ive tried my own, but to make sure i was doing it right I copied in a sound folder from some of manuel gonzalez aircraft and the sounds dont play, I thought there was something about changing the the engine in the air file to that of a fixed wing but ive seen other aircraft and they have helicopter selected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Alan

Have you copied all the wav files into fs2002/sound?

I havent copied them to the root sound folder.
What Ive done is copied a sound folder from another helicopter that has start and shut down sounds.
If I just copy that nothing plays except for the touch down sounds which are in the root sound folder.
If I copy the air file and aircraft cfg of that aircraft the sound works.
I thought the engine had to be changed in the air file to a jet because helis couldnt play start and shut downs but this dosen seem to make a difference.

Hmm strange.
Whenever I've done something like this all I've done is shove the wav files in the root sound directory, and put the sound.cfg file in the aircrafts sound folder and everything works just fine.
Which helicopter is it and what sounds are you trying to alias?

Hi Alan:
If you look at the setup in Manuel Gonzales' sound system you'll notice that the engine type is set to '5' in both the .air and the aircraft.cfg file; have you tried this? In the .cfg file, look for the [GeneralEngineData] section.
In general, the settings in the .cfg file are used whenever there's a discrepancy betwen the .air and the .cfg file.
Hope that helps. Cheers, Holger
