just want to say thanks to birdman for creating this scenery.
and if you guys fly out of bristol its well worth getting. its almost 100% accurate. and its finally cool to actually have an accurate bristol.

It's a long-shot, but any chance you'd feel inclined to do an Albany, New York scenery? lol

I was looking forward to a long, long holiday.............

I'm sure it wasn't that bad, just take a look at my first scenery (RAF Valley), a little persistance can pay off.

Is Albany a small airport ??? (random question to determine an unknown factor)

PS. Ive uploaded my flightplans for Bristol. Took more work than the scenery Roll Eyes

Not a problem Birdman...I only asked with half seriousness anyway.

To answer your question, Albany is what you'd call a medium sized airport. It's no Heathrow or Kennedy, but it's not exactly Saginaw, Michigan either. lol

Albany is the capital of the state, so it's a moderate airport. The terminal itself was only rebuilt in 1998, and it's absolutely gorgeous.

I might take a shot at it. Can you direct me towards a decent tutorial for the absolute newbie?

I don't know of any tutorials unfortunately - let alone a decent one, but in the Scenery design forums everybody is usually very helpfull if you come across a problem. Ill have a look, but i remember I had a look a while ago with no luck. Best thing is trial and error unfortunately.

Do you live in ALB?

I fly in and out of KALB from KBHM 5 or 6 times a month. I have friends north in Saratoga and Bolton Landing/ Lake George area.

Many times I sit in the Marriott off Wolf Road with my binoculars and watch Southwast, Delta, US Airways, Continental and Nothwest flights come directly overhead!

You're right, KALB is a beauiful terminal... and field!!!

Yep, I'm an Albanian. I'm originally from the Lake George area, but now I live just minutes from downtown Albany. (I see the Empire State Plaza every morning when I wake up...very cool.)

As beautiful as the new terminal is, I'm really hoping to get an accurate rendering of downtown Albany. It's an absolutely amazing skyline, with some very unique structural qualities.

If you're flying that often, and to the same field repeatedly, that tells me you fly for a living...who do you fly for and on what? (And how did you get stuck with a line that flies BHM-ALB so frequently? lol)

I wish I could be so lucky to fly for a living, but alas, I am an investment banker in KBHM. I have several clients in Schenectady and Saratoga, and I have friends in Saratoga and Bolton Landing. Business takes me up there about 75% of the time and visiting with friends is the other 25%.

I fly with Delta's VA and go in and out of KALB regularly as well.

I agree the KALB skyline is interesting - everything except the Egg. Too modern for me! When you model the KALB skyline, make sure you do the new train station in Rensaleeer. It's wonderful! Best way to New York City is still the train from Albany in my book!

There are so many things that I love about the Albany skyline, the Egg has to be one of my favorites. (Where else are you going to get it?? lol)

As beautiful as the new train station is, the old one (not the one it replaced, I mean the OLD one that is on the river) is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. It's gotta be close to a mile long. (I'm sure you know the one I'm talking about. It's right next to the Egg, and looks like a castle.)

I've tried creating some scenery for the downtown area, and I got frustrated and gave up. lol If anyone else is interested, I'd be more than happy to provide them with reference photos! lol
