I am having a problem flying in to runway 25 at LAX. I am running FS2002. When I ask the tower for permission to land at LAX, the tower always replies to use runway 7, which would make you fly in from the ocean. At LAX, I always see the planes fly in from the SouthEast, not over the ocean. Is there someway that this can be changed?
Please help.
Thanks

Not sure about the computer generated ATC, but I'm sure there is someone on VATSIM controlling that area for you. It's a major airport, I'd be surprised if there isn't.
VATSIM=Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network. a.k.a. LIVE air traffic control!

The active runway (7) is determined by wind direction.
You can change it using various traffic utilities but I don't use any of them so I'll let others tell you about them.
Change your wind direction to 70 before flying. That will make 25 the active runway. (Either that or change it to 70 - I never can remember whether you're supposed to take off into the wind or with the wind.)

Was this computer generated ATC question or a VATSIM question?

Take off into the wind. The extra windspeed created by more air moving over the wings gives you a groundspeed takeoff slightly lower than what you would have to have otherwise. In fact, increase the windspeed to 100 knotsand you'll be able to take off after about 150 feet. (And then immediately crash

Originally it was a computer generated ATC question, but whenever I see one of those, I try to let people know that it sucks, and there's a much better alternative. lol

Unless you physically change the weather or use the internet to load the current local weather for that airport the default wind is from 001 at 0 knots. For LAX the closest runway to 001 degrees is runways 06 and 07 and since 07 is the longest runway this will be the default runways for takeoff and landing.
If you want to land on 25, then change the weather to have the wind come from 200 to 300 degrees at whatever speed you like (10 to 15 knots is usually accurate for LAX). You can also select weather and let your computer connect to the internet where FS will use the latest LAX weather (or whatever airport you are leaving/arriving at) to get something more realistic.
Good Luck,
Bob
