Spent all day at Fairchild AFB in Spokane. Got to sit in cockpits in KC-135, E-2 Hawkeye, UH-1 Huey, UH-60 Blackhawk, B-52, C-130, a modified Lear35, a similar aircraft for training, plus talk to their crews and pilots. Also got to board several other aircrafts, but not their cockpits.
The airshow was spectacular. Got to see aerobatic performances, F-117 fly-bys, the Army Airborne demo team, some old WW2, Korean, and Vietnam fighters. Also got to see an F-15 in high speed fly-bys. I asked on airforce personel how fast he was flying, he told me around 600 knots. Also got to see the F-15 fly in formation with a P-51 — was awsome.
There was another 6 aircraft display team. I forget what type of aircrafts, but I think they were old russian yaks. They did a brilliant performance and at the end, did the missing pilot formation fly-by while 'Taps' was played over the sound system
The whole thing was Awsome, Incredible, & brilliant.
Also, I was out in the sun all day, and when it was over happened to look in a mirror, and i'm VERY sunburned
