A P-47...but wait....its not real. Let me explain. For the past 3 1/2 years I have had a flag pole in my yard. Being one that tends to be "out of the box"  I dont have the typical "ball" on the top of the pole. I had an F-104 up there for almost 3.5 years. Last month I retired the starfighter and replaced it with a 1/48 scale model P-47. I made it so the plane would turn into the wind and the prop turns.
So what makes this plane so tough? On the 21st of july a thunderstorm hit this area with 60mph+ winds. This storm took out hundreds of trees and the power for over 20,000 homes. My little plane survived the storm and the next three days of t-storms and is still upthere guarding my flag!

Cool, uh?!!

Post some pictures and keep us all updated, don't forget that it gets to retire and go on a fund raising tour after 40 thunderstorms.  Unless it's 8th airforce when it only has to do 25!!!

That p-47 can hold an airspeed proportionally faster in size than the real p-47's top speed. The models top speed should be around 47 mph.

I never said the top speed was 60mph, I just said that was the wind gust that hit the plane. I hope I never see what the "top speed" will be...i might lose my trailer! Grin

The ball on top of a flag pole is called the 'truck'. Just thought you might like to know that. Wink
