Does anyone remember those helicopters from the 'old days' (before FS98) that you controlled with the flaps?  Does anyone know how to do that?  I'm trying to make a spacecraft to go with my moon scenery that flies like a helicopter, for those who can control it, or a version that you control with the flaps for others who have trouble with the heli controls.

Just gotta find out how to do it first.  Smiley

I would suggest downloading one & looking at the airfile.
We still  have some of those files - just look at the early FS98 helicopters - one or two of them are described as being 'flap' controlled ....

i remeber awile back for CFS1 modifiing an airfile that when you hit F8 the plane would stop and hover just like a harrier jet - but my computer crashed not to long ago and i had to get an entirely new hard drive - unfortuantly i forget how i modified it but im sure if you look around you will find it - its possible if you take a harrier jets airfile and modify it from that and if im not mistaken alos edit CFG and DG for starboard flaps..if you need those files just email me and ill send them to you.

If memory serves. Fixed wing airfiles were used because CFS1 did not support choppers. The flaps are represented in the air file as oversize. Say the flaps actual area is .5FtX3Ft =1.5 sq ft. Modify the sq footage value upwards in the air file example: 1ftX6ft=6sq ft. Bigger flaps mean slower movement. But not hovering, remember this is a fixed wing airfile being modified to simulate a chopper. The Cfs1 Bell Huey is an example of a flap controlled fixwing airfile chopper. Harrier airfiles are built the same way I think. Just on a jet airfile instead of a prop airfile. Find a Harrier airfile see how it is done then modify from there.
