Yesterday on the news here, we had a report of a plane going into the drink.....a Cessna Citation X ? ditched just off Whidbey Island, shortly after take-off.....80 yr old pilot and wife, escaped with nothing more than shaken nerves...........WHAT LUCK !.....surviving a thing like that in a plane like that, at that age !
Story here........

Hey Rifleman, I know it's off subject, but, you don't have any leads on any flying jobs out there do you? My wife and I are planning on moving out there next year. I'm making great money flying here in SouthFL, but this place is a real Armpit. ???
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

i know, but it says there also tha he's been a pilot for over 60 yrs, counting that he just turned 80 that makes him elegible to be a WWII vet (starting to fly in '43-'44) hence the flight experience and what he did (u bailed once and u will never forget how it feels... if u have to do it more than once becomes second nature...) so in a way and if my hypothesis is correct is prolly not a big deal to the guy....(lucky him)
i saw the ? sign by the Citaion X part, the Citation X is the biggest (as of what i know) of the Citation family, i dont know muuch about it but i can lok it up when i get home, there is an acceptable Payware model of the X in the Abacus Corporate Pilot pack (along with other birds...) she's quiet the pleasure to fly (and very expensive, so this guy just lost all his life's work and savings
) ouch
happy landings!!

I got this freeware version here and posted it a while back of a Cessna Citation X.
Here is also a cool link to a "flash" on this aircraft:

I also have a friend who wants to move there (Vancouver W/BC area) & get a flying job - though this time in Heli's - & teaching.
Popular place ....
& about the CX pilot - in the commercial world he wouldn't be allowed to fly. Now excuse my apparent agism here - but there is a reason for that & I wonder if this has anything to do with this crash!
Think Global. It's the world we live in.

This is an image of the 1996 Citation 525........Same type as the one which ditched.......the reason I had a "?" after the name in the original post was because I was unsure if it was from the " X " line of A/C ...

Sorry, I can't say how things are in the real world for flying jobs, but I can tell you this, that around here your best assest will be a float qualification, and bush experience, in anything smaller than a twin otter......most of what we see here is small....Beav, Otter, turbo otter, occasional Islander, 180's, Cubs, Stinsons, all on floats, abound ........unless you want to go to larger stuff, in which case, you will have to go to the back of the line for sure....
