Hi all
Whenever we start our sim we get stuck out on the runway, yet we still have to contact ground for permission to taxi to the runway, before we can get in touch with the tower for permission to take off. ???
But can we set up flight sim to start us from the gates or parking?
I hate using that slew thing, the slightest touch and I'm buried in a mountain, or surfing the oceans.
Cheers all
Phil

Easy peasy Phil, start a flight. Taxi to the gates. Shut down everything. Save the flight.
Now when you next load the flight you'll be at the gates with a cold cockpit.

Yes.
There are two other ways of doing it:
When you create a flight from scratch and select the airport, go to the bottom left-hand corner. You'll see a box that says, "Active Runway." Click on the arrow next to that box. The drop-down menu will show you all of the available starting positions for that airport, including parking spaces.
You can also file a flight plan starting from a parking space - following the same routine I just described.
Happy simming!

wow fast replies
Saving the flight seems good advice, except I'm flying Sim airlines and the time and date will be all wrong (like it's a big deal, who's gonna know).
I've looked at the start position drop down menu and it only gives me runways? Seems odd as well if your in an amphibious aircraft and want to start on water you don't seem to get the option.
Cheers

Phil,
If the list shows only runways, then you would have to add parking spaces to the facility using AFCAD.
As far as waterports are concerned, I would imagine that something could be done with AFCAD, but I've never tried it. It would be nice to plan a flight starting from the same same dock each time, wouldn't it?

With the kayaks, err floatplanes.... Sorry.... You just select one of the seaplane airports and you should start in the drink.
