Those immortal words. Thirty four years ago today at 03.39 Neil Armstrong became the first man on the surface of the moon.
Only yesterday he was toasting the Wright Brothers.
If it wasn't for men of their courage and determination where would we be today?

Neil Armstrong is one of my boyhood heroes.  I would love to meet him and introduce him to my son Alexander Neil Ryan, and have his picture taken with him.

At Hot Springs Arkansas, in the wax musuem,
They have a display of Neil Armstrong, next to
the Lander shaking hands with Orvil, standing
by the Flyer, Think about how big this is!!! Shocked
And how wonderfull!!

It's great to meet your boyhood hero. Even better if he/she is just like you always imagined. I had the privilege of meeting my own hero, the great Neville Duke, only last month. I met Neil Armstrong briefly at the Farnborough Air Display some years ago. Both really nice, modest men as I'd always imagined they would be. Wink

Agreed Hagar, I met one of my great heros some years back. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, he was a great inspiration to me as a child, and larger than life when I met him.
The guy has a wonderful sense of humour, great modesty, and a thirst for gin and tonics that impressed even me.
Having since been in the desert I appreciate that it leaves you with a permanent thirst, just like he said.
