Do you like anything in this game? Most people have a specific issue that bugs them, but you seem to know exactly what it was like to be in World War II.

I don't post about the things I like in this game. However, if something about it bugs me, I post to see if anyone else has the same problems. So everything I haven't complained about yet, I like.

I don't know exactly what it was like then. However, I have a Grandfather who flew B-17s, another one who worked for Houghes back then designing airplanes, I've read a few books on the personal experience of pilots, and a few on the air war in general, I've seen hours and hours of documentaries on it (I think I saw every single episode of Wings of the Luftwaffe on the Discovery Channel), and played a number of other WWII flight sims and war games from the mid 80's until the present day. So I know enough to spot some errors in this game.

But ya sure do seem to find a lot to complain about. Roll Eyes

I just don't like the way you (Not YOU, just, kinda... you Roll Eyes

) don't feel as 'involved' in it all as you did in CFS2, but nothing to the amount you posted!

Rats. Consider yourself lucky, I'm on the opposite spectrum as you. So far I can name a few dates, battles, the way the sides worked and why things led to what they did, but not much else. Cry

Well if you had you wouldn't be compaining so much...trust me.

You can knock down a B-25 with a couple of hits in CFS2. Roll Eyes

Planes are so easy to destroy in it...

Interesting. I almost bought the game at the same time I bought CFS3 (I bought FS2002 and a $100 joystick at the same time), but all that would have been too expensive, and since I already had the "improved version" (CFS3), I decided not to get CFS2.

Regarding bombers, the reason I was a little annoyed at how hard you had to hammer them is because I seem to recall coming across a study by the U.S. Air Force somewhere that maybe 10-20 20mm hits was what it took to destroy a B-17 on average. A B-26, easier to shoot down, take about 75 hits or more to destroy in this game. But the thing is, there is a lot less defensive fire, because the bombers fly in formations that are too wide, so maybe that evens it out.

Just a 20mm cannon shell is far more destructive than a 20mm machine gun one.
Its just a thought mate... If you want any help with remaking the profiles to how you think they should be there are a number of us here willing to help or pitch in.

I thought I'd confuse someone. I meant I didn't feel as into it. In CFS2 you felt like you were really in a Corsair, your wingmen yelling and everything is hectic, better check your kneeboard if you wanna get home... In CFS3, start, warp, shoot, warp, done. It just doesn't feel... right. Of course I also don't like the ETO that much. The PTO is where it's at for me! Grin

I thought all the 20mm weapons in this game were cannons. I've never heard of a pure slug 20mm projecticle (something with no explosive in it), except for the 20mm Phalanx the modern U.S. Navy uses on its ships. If you're gonna fire a slug that big, you might as well stuff some high explosive in it.

There were some heavy MGs around.
I've been bashing B25s this morning in a 109 and didn't find it took too much effort, just dive in on them and remember deflection and you can normally take them out on the first pass (nearly hit one!!! Eeek Shocked

).
