As far as I know there is no problem with the
joystick, we all have software glicks from
time to time, if you have xp, you may need to
download a driver from m$, no problem!!

Damanwithaproblem,

Hi, I currently have the same joystick. I bought it about 3 years ago.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but depending on what version of windows you are running the stick works really well.
The problem lies with Windows 2000 and XP. To my knowledge Microsoft did not bring out an update driver to use with 2000 or XP hoping you would buy the newer model (M/Sidewinder Force Feedback 2.0).
I can finally get it to register with XP and can play it in some games, but I am damned if Flight Simulator 2002 will aknowledge that it's there.
The options I have is
Buy the new Version 2.0 Joystick
Or
Revert back to Windows 98', 98 Me just to use it in FS2002.

If your running anything lower than 2000 you should'nt have any problems.

Hope this helps a little.

P.S. Anybody who has found an updated driver for this joystick please let us know

Hey,Simviation!I have the joystick on the back of the manual. The on with force feedback. The one you see when installing FS2002.Thats the one.I heard a guy was having problems with it and that he should turn of the force feed back.Yeah,so i got a little worried.I have XP.Does that need a driver? An if so,please state where i can get them from. Also,Why does it freeze? At Neoseeker, they said it was a joystick problem.

Thank you all! Wink

I was dead lucky. I run XP Pro and I also got the Sidewinder Forcefeedback Pro (it's an old stick from around 1998/99).

When I stuck it onto my USB port and tried to install XP said - sorry son no dice.

I checked the websites - there ain't no updated driver!!!!!

Luckily I was able to return the stick but if you've got the old model you're in trouble I'm afraid.
