Hi chaps,
I have a small problem at Bournemouth airport with AI planes. They taxi from stand to Hold (r/way eight) then stop. There they stay ??? I have not timed the stop but it is ages. There are no other planes in sight. My thoughts are that my Flight plans may have aircraft in them that do not show on screen ie Rick P's Herald' and these aircraft are taxiing out or landing unseen! Before I sit for ages going through my masses of plans or scrub all B'mouth plans, does anyone have any other ideas, or agree with me. All other airports ok. I assume that when new aircraft are added, then compiled, the aircraft no. will change and the flight plans will have the wrong aircraft and this could be why aircraft are unseen. AI is 100%. I await with interest.
Thanks ,

I don't think planes can takeoff and land unseen. If on the traffic.bgl it asks for an airplane and you don't have it on the aircraft directory it simply won't put it there. If that is not the case, go ahead and tune the tower, see if they are clearing anyone to land and you can't see them. I still don't think that is case.
As Donnie said, Try AFCAD

HI
Just to point out the obvious, you have tuned to the tower when you've reached the runway havn't you ???
Press the < ' > key and select 1. Tune Tower. If your close enough to the runway you should see the option to "Request take off with VFR/IFR".
Good Luck

Easy one this.
The holding point is too far away from the runway.
Move it closer with AFCAD

Tony,
Rollerball is correct about the hold short point. In addition to that, I would recommend placing a regular (blue) node right behind the hold short node (slightly farther from the runway.) I've noticed sometimes when a line forms at the departure runway, the aircraft at the front of the line will get stuck because it doesn't have a node to proceed to. Adding the blue node will fix this.
Regarding your aircraft disappearing, here are a few things to consider:
1. Is the aircraft used in the flight plan designed for AI traffic use? Not all aircraft are! I recommend not using aircraft designed in FSDS. Better to stick with GMAX-designed aircraft.
2. If an aircraft is not showing up at its scheduled arrival time, make sure you are setting your clock according to Greenwich Mean Time. All AI flight plans use GMT.
3. If planes are disappearing after getting taxi clearance, that usually means that their parking space is not connected to the taxiway system in AFCAD.
4. If you're not sure which aircraft is assigned to a particular flight plan, best thing is to look up the plan in your traffic editing program and see what it says. With some programs, it may be necessary to open the Aircraft.txt file and manually add a new aircraft entry before compiling for the flight plan to be assigned to the new aircraft.
Hope this has helped!
Good luck!
Erik

Hi Erik,
Yes thanks, a great help. I note the comment about FSDS planes and I have a number of these on board. What my query is, is if one of these FSDS planes has a number in the aircraft txt, and this number is assigned to a flight plan, obviously the plane would not be visable on the screen, but would the flight plan be put in motion, thereby stopping another plane from taking off and causing it to hold. I have noticed all the other comments with great interest and will try all.

In my experience, I have
not
found that using any particular aircraft in a flight plan can affect the behavior of other aircraft in the simulation.
So if you use an aircraft in your AI flights that isn't designed for AI traffic use, it may effect the simulation where
that particular
aircraft is concerned. But other aircraft should not be effected.
