Hi Guys,
I've had (legit, legal) copy of FS2004 for a while now, and just thought I'd share with you some of my favourite shots so far, and show you some of the new features in FS2004. No editing on these shots, exept for re-sizing. This is how FS2004 looks with all settings maxed right out, 4x Anti-Alising, and 8x Ansiotropic Filtering applied at the card level.
The new default Lear 45 model is a massive improvement over the previous version, the folding steps even make a solid "thunk!" as you close them! The flight dynamics have also been much improved. The model show here in the aniversary livery, although you can also have the usual gold/white affair.
The new Lear 45 DVC. All aircraft now have a full DVC, with clickable gauges. Another impovement is in the guages themselves, for example, the gauges in the 747 are now fluid and easy to read, unlike the FS2002 version.
The default DC-3 is available in 4 liveries, and all look great. The aircraft flies as you would expect, big, slow and heavy.
Sometimes, the combination of FS2004's improved weather and textures can create some images that are verging on the photo-real.
An example of the new weather in FS9, to the right of the picture, you can see the squall line where the shower starts, and in-game, you can see it moving closer! The real world weather in FS2004 is updated every 15 minutes.
There are lots of hidden "easter eggs" hidden in FS9, and the shuttle is one of them. Also here, the new Robinson 22 Beta II helicopter here, and very nice it is too. All the choppers seem to be a little easier to handle in FS2004, especially the Robinson.
The new Mooney is much improved. Now we get a brand new model, with a full DVC at last. The buggy flight dynamics of the FS2002 version are also new.
The mountain scenery is great in FS2004, the 3D clouds just seem to "hang" better from them. Also here you can see the MJ744 works fine in FS2004. In fact, I'm yet to find a FS2002 model that won't.
I hope you enjoyed the shots, if there are any questions, fire away!

Here is the water shot you wanted.
I'm not certain, but I think the sea conditions are the same right through, ie, there are no 30m monster waves in the Atlantic.
Also, to clear up the confusion, this gold copy was given to me by Pete as a thankyou for some things I did for him.

Stunning, absolutely stunning.
Wouldn't mind some daytime pics of Toronto Pearson Airport (CYYZ) and the surrounding area. All the ones I've seen are poor quality night ones. Also can I see the west tip of lake Ontario? I want to see if they fixed the greatly oversized land bridge (from FS2002) from Burlington to Hamilton.
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.

Hi guys, thanks for the replys thus far,
Ok, the Cape Canevaral scenery is all default. The are two launch pads, one with a shuttle on there, one without. The preperation hangar is also rendered, as is the road connecting them all.
Orenda635, I'll get some shots of CYYZ to you, but I'll email them, I don't want to hog Pete's bandwidth.

Ric B.

Sorry, I should have posted these earlier. Basically, if you can run FS2K ok, the FS9 will run as good or better. One thing to remeber here though, it's still a hughe memory hog, and running the Garmin GPS can hurt the framerates.
Important system specs are as follows:
Dell Dimesion 4550
Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor
512MB of 266mhz RAM
nVidia Geforce4 4600 Ti graphics card (128Mb)
Dell OEM motherboard running 4xAGP and an Intel 845PE chipset
The res I'm running at 1280x1024 in 32 bits of colour, 4x Anit Aliasing and 8x Ansiotropic filtering.
My FPS is locked at 25, and I get this most of the time, except when in very built up areas, where it can get down to about 11-15. Bear in mind this is with all the settings maxed in FS9.
I know this quite a high end system, but you will be able to acheive a better look with FS9 than FS2K2 on your current machine, whatever it may be. This isn't like the jump from FS98 to FS2000.
I hope that helps, if there are any more questions, post them up.
Regards, Ric B.

Erez,
Sorry, I was trying to demonstrate what FS9 can do. By no means to you need to have a supercomputer to run the sim, I'm sorry if that's the impression I created.
As I said, if you can run FS2002 to a level you like, the FS9 will run, at the very least, just as well. In fact, it might even run better! I will say however, that it does seem memory heavy, but at least memeory is the cheapest part of your computer to upgrade.

Acually, better you didn't. I did what you were going to do and the stupid thing didn't work. I got a GeforceFX 5200 instead, works great even though it took three weeks to be delivered, two of thoes I expect were at the border waiting for CCR to clear it.

I have $68 dollars on my wallet, and a KICK-@55 computer that can make FS2002pro look like FS95.
My specs:
Pentium 4 processor with 2.4GHZ
512MB RAM
Geforce4 MX440 (Gateway) with 128MB
Around 40x+ speed CD-ROM and CD-RW
Sound Blaster Audigy
Optical Mouse
Windows XP
60GB Hard Drive
15" Flat LCD monitor
Don't tell me to upgrade my video card. The video card is powerful enough as it is and I like it how it is. Besides, I have the file that I downloaded from Simviation. It enables Geforce MX versions to display reflections on FS2002.
As you can see, I am ready to buy the FS2004 ACOF as soon as it hits stores.

Just a quick recap on a couple of things I have noticed...
You still can't fly to the poles in FS9, and you can still only get to 99,999ft.
Also, some animation won't work - for example, the DSB Eurofighter, the flaps are operative, but don't move in the sim.
Chrome textures will need to be modified for FS9. The alpha values that determine reflectivity seem to be handled differently, giving metal surfaces an "overexposed" look.
If anyone want's an explanation of this, I'll post a pic.
Regards,
Ric B.

I would like to see san diego from an airplane. I was hoping for much more buildings in 2002, oh well...
