Wow, this is normally a gorgeous P-40 Warhawk. So nice, I am actually taking it to FS2004 with me, but what the heck happened here?

Just like the space shuttle on re-entry, you have excessive speed and entered an area of ionized air which it preventing normal vision from actually seeing how the P-40 is supposed to look in normal air ???...........just slow down carefully and you can make a good landing with both wings attached.....hopefully..........

This looks like a multi-LOD model, probably originally intended for CFS2. Very popular with CFS2 designers as it helps with frame-rates but there aren't many around for FS2002. With a multi-LOD (Level of Detail) aircraft you see a less detailed visual model the "further away" it is. This is also used on the defaults. What you can see is one of the less detailed "distance" models. The zoom factors are different in the 2 sims which means some CFS2 aircraft don't display too well in FS2002. If you zoom in it should display normally.

That looks to be an aerodynamically cleaner machine than even the P-40Q.

Maybe that's the P-40 Warhawk Stealth Fighter? It has very low-signature facets, if you get me. lol

I re-installed Direct X 9.0a and that seemed to help a bit. I imagine it'll help more when I get my video card...
Here's the plane the way it was meant to be.
Does anyone know the difference between a Warhawk and a Tomahawk?

Rifleman's link is good. Just Remember that the US named the Kittyhawk after the Wright Bros. The Brits wanted a Tomahawk to square off the German heads with.

I thought this might interest you & help explain this "bug". I couldn't find this particular P-40 so used a typical example of an early CFS2 multi-LOD aircraft instead, the popular PBY Catalina by VB Planes. This is how it displays at different zoom values in FS2002.
Close range model.
Medium distance model.
Long distance model.
How it should look in CFS2.

Again, if you want it, I'm not sure, but I think I got it here. It might have been at Avsim or ol' No Nodes.com . The file name is FD_TomahawkIIb.zip
