If this refers to me, sorry for any inconsistencies. I do my best to stay current but am human and am the first to admit that there are many many more who know lots more than my limited knowledge.....point out my errors and I can learn from my mistakes......heck how many have I have made over the years so far....... Not you Rifleman. I'm the one most likely to drop howlers in my enthusiasm. I tend to get more confused as I get older*. When I make a mistake it's a good one. Cheesy

Blame my late Dad for taking me to an air display at the tender age of 6. I've been hooked ever since. My love & fascination for flight has never waned & it's the one consistency in my life. Wink

PS. I bet AstroGeek never bargained for all this when he posted his question on flaps. LOL

Are you sure you know what you are talking about ?

I think you mean the Douglas F4D Skyray, which is this plane....................

And NOT
this plane, which is the "REAL" Convair F-102 Delta Dagger............

Essentially you are right Will, but its not the fact of "disturbing" the airflow which makes the difference,...its the camber(airfoil shape) change which is generating the changing levels of lift/drag/speed/power requirements.......

I would consider your input as relevant and valuable...and not false information....... Grin

Thanks Rifleman. I can follow most science at a basic level but there is something about aerodynamics that seems to cause my brain to seize up.

One day I'll get the basics but for now I'll stick to virtual stunt flying.

Well Will, it looks like you got a pretty good handle on it, but don't sweat it too much until you actually get something in the air that is of value.........the Sim is one thing, but outside in the air, is another.....

If you require a further explanation of those posted images, I would be happy to expand on them.......they leave a little to be desired in the way they describe the flap deployment and its effects............... ??? 8) Grin
