I think the DVC is the way forward but it depends on the quality. Unless they're well done I would rather not have one at all. I never liked 2D panels & don't find them at all realistic. I usually fly in what we call HUD view (W key) in CFS unless I wish to use a particular pop-up panel like the GPS. The introduction of clickable DVC gauges in FS2004 is a step forward but you still won't be able to do that. There's still some way to go. IMHO

I know some people (& 3rd party designers) have the exact opposite opinion. Maybe it's just as well we still have the choice.
