Hi,

??? ??? ??? I'm a newcomer to Flight sims and have only been using CFS for a about a month.

A couple of other discs were bundled with my main disc, they were "The Luftwaffe Collection" and "RAF 200o" being a Luftwaffe buff, it was probably this that attracted my attention to CFS in the first place.

However... many of the canopies of these aircraft were black when I installed them.  Would someone be kind enough to explain, using very short words, how to make them fully transparant - I like to see the pannel while I'm flying.

I found the description of how to do this with newly installed single aircraft on this site - BUT am unsure as how I can proceed with the ones on the discs.

I hope it is possible, because flying the He111 must be a real experience with it's great glasshouse of a cockpit!

Many thanks to the people that take the trouble to read through my ramblings,

all the best,
Ken Attwood,

Hi Ken. I'm assuming by "canopies" you mean the panels. Check out my updated CFS Panel Clinic. http://www.simviation.com/lair/CFSpc.htm
I think this should explain the problem & help you fix it. Try this first.
Quote:
Note: If you have this problem with panels of all imported aircraft please try this first. Find COMBATFS.CFG in the CFS main folder. Open COMBATFS.CFG in Notepad & scroll down until you see the PANEL_MASKING_OFF= entry under [PREFS]
It should look like this: PANEL_MASKING_OFF=0
If the entry is any different change it to PANEL_MASKING_OFF=0 Exit Notepad saving changes.
Check it out in Free Flight to see if that fixed it. This simple tweak could well solve the problem. If not, please read on.

Thanks,

Grin  I'll pluck up the courage to try this now that I know that it will work with aircraft already installed.

You shouldn't have a problem. Nothing much can go wrong. Make sure to exit the sim before trying to edit any  files, especially COMBATFS.CFG. If you mess it up completely, simply Uninstall/Install CFS1
