I must say that after reading several of the recent postings in the screenshots and payware forum some of the remarks made there are disappointing. I am not going to begin that argument again here. I have posted my opinions elsewhere and want us to stop for a moment to think, not rehash old topics.
People have been totally inconsiderate of others feelings in these postings. That is nothing new. Every now and then these things flare up around bulletin boards. However, this site has always been a little different than others in that people have respected others and kept the uproar to a minimum. I couldn’t believe the amount of rudeness that is being passed around on a subject as insignificant as freeware vs. payware aircraft. I say insignificant, not because it is irrelative to our hobby, but because our hobby is just that. It is a hobby. My life will not end if FS is suddenly taken away and neither will anyone else’s. Some people might lose some money, but work is a constant and that void would be filled by some other form of providing means.
Flight Simmers tend to be a little more mature and intelligent than people who play other games in that it draws people from the industry and the professional world more that others. People who play games like Grand Theft Auto or Ultima Online tend to be younger and therefore less experienced at dealing with people on a mature level. Are there young people on this site? Yes, and it is very good to see. I find it thrilling to see the number of people ranging from 13 and up turning to FS instead of more violent, more intellectually shallow games. But there are also many older individuals here and I am sorry to say that this undesirable behavior is coming from both groups equally.
Whether or not you agree with the subject at hand, not one person has the right to call someone stupid or to insinuate they are less desirable be a part of this site. We all need to step back, calm down, and learn a lesson from this. People should be treated the same here as if they were sitting in your living room, because in a sense they are.

Well said Kevin. The only thing I'd disagree with you about is that if my FS and CFS were taken away, life might has well have ended!

I agree on the manners problem I have become very tired of long winded replies in stupid petty arguments. I do not however agree to the playing other more violent games comment. I consider myself extremely polite for a 16 year old and I play Grand Theft Auto and Blitzkrieg With great enthusiasm it has nothing to do with how polite you are.

The main thing I like about the SimV forums is how well everyone interacts with one another, there are other forums I visit that are totally immature and there is very little point in trying to post any serious ideas on these boards, I visit them for fun and to watch everyone make fools of themselves, and due to the atmosphere it's hard to resist posting an occasional smart remark.
I would never think of doing that here.
I haven't came across the posts that you mention Pirate, but I agree with you, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and it is very immature to belittle someone for expressing theirs.
I would be very disappointed if SimV ever became a playground for unruly and disrespectful behaviour.
However I feel as though the moderators here have a much better grip on things that some other message boards.
Also, I want to add that the forums I spoke of above are not Flight Sim related by the way.
