Can somebody give me a walkthrough of using ILS to land the plane?

I got the runway freq and the ILS heading, now what?

I punch in the freq in nav1 but I can't find out where to put the heading and what autopilot button to hit?

Thanks!

Know which runway heading you need,

You line up with the ILS heading, put the ILS on, and switch on APR mode, or press ctrl-a (FS2000)
First on the list for autoland is the heading (vertical bar), so keep it straight or fly towards the horizontal one.

As heading is OK, or when you intercept the horizontal one, the aircraft will automatically trim for altitude and tries to maintain heading.

Heading hold is over-sensitive, and won't always succeed in turbulence.

For practice, try a small aircraft first, then go to a bigger one (i prefer the An-24, because it's stable as a rock even in turbulence, and still flies good)
And eventually you can land the 747 and 777

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Paul, your site helped out completely! The only problem is my aircraft wants to land straight at the tower, not even aligned with the runway. whats going on?? I put in all the numbers right, it just glided down way too far left of the runway to land.

what am I doing wrong???

Hello, Glad I could help.

OK, Which plane are you flying?, if it is a downloaded one use a normal Default Aircraft.

Sometimes this happens with me when I use a d/l aircraft so I think that may be the problem.

I found the problem. I was using a 737, but I didn't activate the NBD freq. thats why it didn't work! thanks for all your help, the airplane came in a little sideways but thats because of the wind probably.
