I am looking for an Amphibious plane that is pretty fast (can go almost 300 knots) if possible. My friend and I love to lake hop but the problem is, we are impatient and the current Amphibious planes I have found are oftly slow.

Can anybody tell me where one might be??? thank you

Have you tried looking for a Martin Seamaster - A four jet seaplane ? I've gotten a couple different copies from different sites on the internet.

A fast amphibious jet would be the Beriev Be-200.  The only problem is that I have jet to see one for FS.  It is an interesting plane.

The ones I have were FS98 versions. Without digging through my archieves I'd say I got them from Flightsim.com. I just did a file search over there and the only thing that came up was a panel and a FS5 version.

Don't know whether you know, but one of the British aero companies produced an amphibious pure jet interceptor just after the war.  I think it was either Westland or Saunders-Roe - I'm not sure.

It was sub-sonic, very ugly and flew as a prototype but wasn't proceeded with as there was no requirement for the little monster.

If you're interested, I'll trawl through my library and find details.

All the best,

Saunders-Roe (SARO) SR.A/1  of 1947.  Three prototypes built.

The Be-200 is a great plane.  I would love for a designer to take a try at it.  Smiley

Airliners has some great pictures of it.

Tha animation of the landing gear is a pain in the posterior ... why couldn't Beriev just have made it a flying boat?

ON certain Russian planes - such as the Beriev and some Antonov turboprops, my mechanically challenged mind tries to figure out how that gear rotates with that extra lever from mid-point to the front of the nacelle....

Maybe these pictures can help.

Right after T/O

Airbourne with gear starting transition
...

A bad picture for this, but look just aft of the wing and you can see the main gear retracting.

Does this mean that you are concidering making it?  Also Beriev did concider making it a flying boat.  Then they decided this plane had more potential than just a sea partol craft.  They are making it as a pax plane, ambulance, SAR, and firefighter.  It is an intersting platform for many uses.

I'm fiddlling with a "USMSB"* type model ....  nothing fancy, a reasonable visual shape, doubtful flight dynamics, something for the tinkerer to play with.

Can you post it/e-mail it to me please.  I would love to work with the dynamics and paint.  I am not a good modeler though.

Let me get some (very) basic landing gear and texture templates....

I've yet to start cutting out control surfaces.

Do you work with the source file (FSDS2.23) or the model itself?

The model would be easier for me to work with.  I am just begining to work with dynamics and paint, so I just wanted a project to play with.  Thank you very much.  Smiley

Okay, here's what I've got:

An amphibious corporate jet designed by Brian Gladden.  It is a fictitious a/c, but deffinitely fun to fly.  I believe I got it here, but I don't know exactly.  Search for the designer name.

Felix!  The Death Glider is the ship that flies around in the movie Stargate, chasing all those Abu Dabi types through the desert.

Since Felix is uninterested in making fantasy or space ships, is there someone out there who is?

BTW, found that Amphibious Corporate Jet on flightsim.com.  A really nice .8 Mach at 50,000 ft.

That Death Glider
...

finally evolved into this
...
Some of the guys who made Stargate (the movie) later did Independence Day

Especially the flight dynamics of those Death Gliders (and some of the fighting tactics) are the same as the ID-4 alien interceptors.
