Wow ozzy thats alot of guns.

I've always taken a fancy to ak47's they may be old but they look georgous and must be reasonablygood if so many countries use them. Why were yo using the l98 thats a cadet weapon? I hear that apart from the blocking that the real SA80 is actually very accurate.

I know an ex-royal marine who says that the AK47 is the best assult rifle in the world. Even if it is nearly 50 years old.

True. I've met a few 'nam vets who would have used it over an M-16 anytime simply because the AK-47 could withstand the jungle climate and could still fire even if the barrel was full of dirt

The AK family of weapons are amazing, simple, but totally reliable. I've seen demos were they buried an AK, pulled it out of the ground an hour later and the thing still worked! A brilliantly designed bit of kit, not the most accurate, but at least you know it'll always work no matter how bad you treat it. Its also easy to maintain. Unlike certain expensive rifles I could mention.....
Oh and the reason I had a blat with the L98 was that my friend was a firearms instructor/range officer for the ATC, and he invited me along one day to teach the cadets how to shoot properly.
I guess I've been lucky. I originally learnt using my cousins air rifle aged 7 (he then went into the Royal Marines and was in the Falklands war, and is now a firearms instructor for the Met. Police, so I still go shooting with him), by the time I was 8 I was living in Australia and using my uncles .22 every day on the farm (lots of snakes and dangerous margarine tubs that needed dealing with Grin). Oh and my wifes family has several career soldiers in it, so I sometimes go shooting with them too!
Love shooting, the most fun was a live Milan shot, there was nothing left of the car we used as a target. Totally awesome Grin Grin Grin I'd love one as a personal side-arm!!!!

Ozzy

Ps. If anyone has a .44 Desert Eagle could they let me have a go, I'm desperate to try it, I've seen photos of what it does to nasty evil water melons!!!! That is just one coooooooool pistol.

damn that thing'll break your arm.

I got a full size airsoft semi automatic blowback version and it is huge mind you it is the .50 caliber version and doesn't even equal a fraction of the power of the real thing.

I personally belive that the Desert Eagle range of pistols is a waste of time. .50cal rounds are not meant to be fired from a short barreled weapon. If you want a good pistol get a Sig Sauer or FN Five Seven.
