I hope that some of SimV's newer members don't take offense to this, I honestly don't mean it the way it sounds.

But has anyone else noticed the influx of "newbie questions" (relatively speaking, of course)?  I'm wondering if, with CoF on the horizon, 2002 is priced way way down like usually happens when a new edition is released.

Anyone know what it's going for retail in the states?

Hi

Yes I'm a newbie to FS2002 Grin, I originally had 98 but waited for price drop before I upgraded.
I'm in UK the price was originally £60 ($90) i think now it's £30($45) with a £10 cash back if you trust registering your name with microsoft.

Even so thats still nearly as much as my US counterparts pay full price ($50), such is this countries attitude to fleecing the market. Undecided .

Then they still get you to part with £30 ($45) for extra aircraft packs with just one aircraft in the pack  Angry.  Lucky we can download them eh.

Someone let me know how much FS2004 is in the US so I can compare here, I'd be interested to know.

See you all up there.

Phil

& simviation is equally aimed at newbies (casual users) & diehards alike - deliberately. Always has been ...  from the day it was concieved  Wink Newbies are always more than welcome & as is always said ' there is no such thing as a stupid question' *

(btw ... you can easily find out the current retail & 'used' price of the majority of things using something called  .. the Internet (amazon.com for instance.....) ...  Grin ...)

* OK - exception: 'I want someone to build a B2 Spirit with all the works. Virtual Cockpit & exploding bombs & ...oh yeah .. send it to me when you've finished - I'm even prepared to pay $20 to anyone who can do this for me.... '

Believe it or not - this can & does (rarely, thank god) happen ....  Roll Eyes

Ok sorry...as I said, I didn't mean to "slam" newbies as it would most definitely sound.  We were all new once, I'll be the first to say that and add on that I'm hardly an expert myself.  I just wondered if I was the only one who seemed to notice an increase in "entry level" type questions, and if that was the case, why that was.

Trust me when I say I'm not here to try to start an issue...

It does seem to come in waves I've noticed over the past year. There is one or two months when we get lots of new members, then it quietens down then picks up again. This is a good thing though as it means we're constantly getting fresh blood, and we're always on our toes ready to leap into action to help one another, whilst building up a v.sound knowledge database from a wealth of different people.

I am not a newbie to FS, but I like to read their questions.  The reason is, sometimes I maybe able to assist them to the level of oldbie or they may ask a question I never thought to ask before.  This way we are all learning something new or re-learning.....

Bring on your questions and comments, newbies or oldbies, it doesn't matter.  Because where the rest of the world may not understand the addiction to FS, here at simviation, we are all family.....awe....

??? ... why'd you say that?

Can't see anything here that would make you react that way ....

Anyways... funny how one person can read a simple peaceful message as somehow 'angry' ...

Hey Scott, maybe a "smilie" thrown in there would have let everyone know how you meant that comment....I have, on occaision, been known to also omit a smilie and been the cause of  " Raise a little Hell " without intending to do so.........   Embarrassed    8)

Rifleman---definitely agreed....sorry for any confusion.

(For future reference to everyone, 99% of the time when I post, I'm at work, and I've got 4,286 other things going on simultaneously, so sometimes my head is not where it should be.  I'm not one to cause a problem intentionally, so if you think that's what I'm doing, then chances are I was distracted by something else.  lol)

I hear you there mate!  I do the same thing and a few months ago I responded to a request for help, the person I responded to didn't like what I said and acused me of being various things.  It all got a little messy for a while.  It's very easy to offend some people as they can't hear the "way" you've said stuff.  I too have noticed a recent influx of questions about fs2k2 issues.  As Ozzy said it seems to come in waves.  The most popular questions seem to be about installing aircraft and navigation.
