Flew the first mission in the Korean Campaign and was able to get five Mig15 kills and evaded a large group of other bandits before returning to home base with wingmen. I took no hits. I set up my approach to land, hoping to see wingmen land with me and could not get my flaps and gear down after many tries. Had to X out to save successfull mission. When first trying out the F-86 in Free Flight; I made my takeoff, was able to lift my flaps and gear and lower them again for landing. I then made a 180 and took off again and this time the gear and flaps would NOT retract. Could this be a bug in what looks to be a great Campaign? Would like to hear from anyone else that experienced this problem. Thanks BadBud

Must add that this is the new Korean Campaign for CFS2. Thanks to those who developed this campaign. BadBud

yes, a great campaign indeed, hell i aint finished the first mission yet!
it took 1 hour going on a wild goose chase with the migs around and around in circles
so i restarted the mission and desided to fly something more faster, and modern... a F-15 yet, i was to fast this time and slow turning
ok well, i'm off to start that mission again and try not to cheat
cheers, Daniel

Hey there guys. Firstly, thanx for your positive feedback. It makes all that work worthwhile. Now the the failure of the flaps and gear. I've just answered a mail from someone someone experiencing exactly the same thing. Funny that this never showed up during testing. The only thing I can think of is that CFS2 can't handle the stresses of flying a jet. Look at the FAQ page on the Fox Four site (
http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwfaq.htm
) and check out the section on 'Difficulty and Realism settings' There's a change you can make in the CFS2.cfg that should solve this problem. Please try that and get back to me about whether that works or not.
All the best

Well I'm up to mission 6 and have 15 Migs and 5 Yaks
. Something I noticed that dosn't make a lot of sense is that the camo migs blow up easyer that the silver ones ??? or is this just bad shooting on my part
.
Again, thanks for a great add-on

Craig, as far as i recalll, the two MiGs should be more or less the same. I do recall Tom (our mission builder) saying something about making the one type easier to shoot down than the other. I don't think he would have altered the dp to do this, though, so I can't say for sure whether what you experience is by design.

I have installed as per instructed and made all the suggested changes and still the gear and flaps do not always work. Also I find that after moving along in the selected campaign mission, some of the gauges stop functioning, in particular the air speed indicator gauge. It is no big deal, but would be nice if it worked properly. Even with these problems, I am still having great fun with this campaign and do not want to discourage anyone from downloading the Korean Campaign. You will enjoy it and may not experience these little bugs. BadBud

Thanx for the info Bud. I have someone else experiencing the same thing and he's looking into it as well. We'll track this sucker down. One question. Was your version of CFS a clean installation or did you have other add-ons installed?

I have about 85+ planes in CFS2 as well as "Double Trouble" (P-51 vs Fw190). I have tried to keep the plane load below 90. I could try cutting some more planes to my CFS2 hanger for storage and see if things change any. BadBud

BadBud. Think we tracked down this bug. The gear failure will only happen with Flight Model in Medium & Hard settings. I'll post an update on the site when we've tested it properly. Meanwhile, you can pump the gear down manually. Shift + G or Ctrl + G depending on keyboard.
Sorry about this. With the amount of beta testing we thought we had everything covered.
PS. Providing you're not getting error messages there's no problem with number of installed aircraft . Just be careful not to install too many more.

Actually, both the Tiger and Silver MiGs are set at Veteran Skill-Level/High Aggressiveness in most of the missions, so there should be no difference in the way they respond to damage. They have identical DPs, and the only way(technically) that there would be a difference in the amount of damage each could sustain would be if one was set at a higher Skill level than the other?????

BadBud. I've posted a temporary quick fix for the electrical failure here.
http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2kwupdates.htm
Please tell me if that fixed your problem. If it works OK I'll post a proper patch later.

Hagar..............thanks for the quick response. Your temparary fix works great, gear comes down, flaps work, and gauges work all through the latest mission that I flew. Was a good mission for me; six kills for a medal. A hint for those that are able to program their stick and/or throttle buttons: make sure that the button you program for speed breaks is the most convenient for quick and positive action. I learned this lesson flying dogfights in Falcon4 and it really applies here because of slower bandits that you might be up against. I am on and off those breaks constantly. Thanks to F-86 developers for installing speed break indicator light on panel; great help! This is as I have said before; a GREAT campaign and I love the F-86. Best 86 in my hanger. I hope there will be a second installment. BadBud
