Hello everyone!!

I've just installed a new system with and I have restored fs2002 to the state it was in on my old system.  Everything appears to be in good shape except for one problem:

There is one particular aircraft I was using successfully with AI traffic on the old system that will not load on the new system.  The error message states that fs2002 does not recognize the aircraft's .mdl file because it is third-party software.  I was surprised to see this.

Old Specs:

550 mhz Pentium III
10 GB Hard Drive
256 MB RAM
32 MB ATI Radeon 7000 Graphics Card

New Specs:

2.4 ghz Pentium IV
60 GB Hard Drive
256 MB RAM
64 MB Nvidia G Force Graphics Card

Yes, I am aware that my old system was a dinosaur.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Well what is the offending aircraft? That would probably be the fastest way to figure out what is wrong...

The problem aircraft is the Spantax DC-8-71 shown on this page:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002jets4.htm

This aircraft is not ideal for AI traffic from the standpoint that no landing gear displays while on the ground, but in all other respects, it is a good AI aircraft.  It takes off and lands properly (or it least it did on my old system.)  As far as I am aware, there are no other options for a DC-8-70 to use as AI traffic.

What I fail to understand is why this aircraft worked fine on my old system but doesn't on my new one.

Thanks for the reply!

SmileyPerhaps you should try to re-download that aircraft again. It sounds like the *.mdl file was corrupted during the transfer.

There's a little prog called MdlRepair. Try downloading and running it.

It may solve your problem

Rollerball,

The .mdl repair program worked.  What a cool program!  I believe the root of the problem was switching from Windows '98 to Windows XP on my new system.

DC-8 freighters will once again roam in fs2002!

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Smiley Smiley Smiley
