Hi everyone,

     In England (Bristol) its kind of sunny at the moment Shocked  8) so were outside most of the time. As our house is on the incoming flight path to Bristol 'International' Airport (Lulsgate) we see alot of planes coming in, especially as we're barbecueing most evenings we have perfect view of the incoming planes as they lower there gear over our house, Im not great at identifieing the planes, (but my dad is worse Wink) - we end up arguing about what it was without the faintest Idea what the plane we think it is looks like Roll Eyes, Does anyone know if there is somewhere on the internet I can go to get a sheet with all of the different types on?  Thanks.

If you are really interested, then go to a local book store and find an aircraft Id book. I am searching for a web site and if I find one I'll post it. If I dont, I am sure some one in this forum would know

I found a site that covers military aircraft. It appears to be part of an on-line Army Air Defense Artillery school out of Fort Bliss, Texas

Thanks for your trouble Loomex, that is an amazing site. Unfortunately it doesn't have civil aircraft though.

    I did however have an idea. You know the Project AI pages which display the aircraft types with the pictures. I saved the pictures and arranged them with a paint program and printed them. They make really good Identification sheets - I can now sit back and Identifieing the aircraft as we have a barbecue.

I suppose this would make me..........a planespotter...... Shocked Shocked

hey bird man, i live on the final approach aswell, right where they intercept the localizer for 27, i can tell ya now, the sorts you see:) 737's 757's a 767 every now and again, A310 320 321 saab 340 pleanty of Dash 8's loads of ERJ's CRJ's there was a DC10 in a few weeks ago(still need to get that confirmed) as for identifying them, a good place to go is airliners.net search the photos for bristol and it'll help you alot. there was a website that had a webcam and an apron sheet with upto date info on what was arriving and departing bristol. but thats gone down right now.

Whoa, thanks Y2,

     That solves all my problems.... I was basically wanting to find out which airlines and what planes came into bristol so I could get the planes from PAI and add them to the flight simulator to go with my new Bristol Airport Scenery, now I can do that from my comfy seat right here where I am right now. Its an amazing site - you wouldn't happen to know another site where it tells you where each Airline flys to and from, all the airlines sites are practically useless except for KLM and Easyjet.
  -----They must track the ILS at Keynsham and lower there gear over Queen Charlton then.
----- I shall now look out with my binoculars at Barbecue time and know exactly what Im seeing - I've always thought every dash 8 I saw was BA and every 737 was an Easyjet - with the binnoculars I can see there all different, it appears that airlines are starting up every week!!

i'll see what i can find for you. the dash 8's are british european during the evening usually from belfast round 8pm thats one i know as my dad used to take that flight home from work once a month. the KLM flights are either Fokker 50's and 70's usually the ams 6:30am flight which i gotta take in a few months urgh.Smiley we also have some airfrance flights in going to and from paris CDG but the plane changes on average.
anyway i will find a site for you gives you a full list of to and form, cant guarentee the planes used but on average they are usually the same

then goto flight times at the top. it doesnt give actual planes but it will give you something to work with  for flight plans. i will be happy to provide anymore help you need,.
and yeah they lower their gear a few miles past here so must be queen charlton

There's also a few books from the "Illustrated Directory" series. There's one on "Modern Commercial Aircraft", "Fighters", and "Fighting Aircraft of WW2". They have plenty of pictures of dozens of different aircraft along with a short technical description and history of each aircraft.

I have tried the Bristol sight before and found out where easyjet and BA went to but nothing more - I didn't know anything else came inback then.
   Im not sure what some of the Airport abreviations are though Sad I guess a search on Airliners.net should tell me what they are.
     I dont think you can model the flightplans to go on a particular day but Ill see, If not ill just have to pick a day.
One question - the STAD time on the apron timetable list, is that the departures, I think it must be.
        My scenery will be ready soon - Unfortunately I forgot to look at my arial picture so its looking a bit ............ er lets say different to real life, but I think its an improvement on the origional. I was thinking of starting again but Ill see what FS2004's Bristol looks like. It does have the Airlines parking in more realistic places though.

  I have a brilliant book on military aircraft from Sainsbury's but I never really go near book shops - My Sister occasionally goes to the library so ill get her to look for them, but I don't know whether she will agree to picking up a book on planes. She can always tell the person at the desk its for her brother quite loud I guess.

  Fozzer - Were you the one (Hi everyone), if so I guess were even. If not you wont have a clue what Im talking about - Im not mad don't worry. I did however do it with style (if you know what Im talking about). Wink

stad is standard time, Arrival Departure.
can i ask does you scenery include the correct runway layout? by which i mean does the runway have the dip and the uphill layout?

  Im afraid thats not possible in FSSC Sad  - Shame though, Ill have another check, I wouldn't have thought that the AI would land on it if it was as it was in reall life. Im surprised that the real planes can land on it. Im afraid that levels and bumps in the airfield is not possible to work out with just an arial photo. Sad
  That webcam is great  - If only I could zoom in.
    Do you know of a sight including pictures of the airport, if I had them I would start again - I fact I am going to start again anyway - but the more I have the easier I can place the buildings and things.  I shall do a search an see what I can find.

the only ones i know of are the overhead views.
as for the runway, it is a bit of a pain to land on during my lessons two i have landed up the hil and one down it, the two going up i managed to land rather hard, and the one going down hill i almost missed half the runway:)
i will have another look round for some good pictures of bristol layout for you looking forward tos eeing this new scenery.
